Agree with everyone else’s choices but I have a special place in my heart for Katharine McPhee’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Beautiful, magnetic and more proof that she should have beaten that idiotic, growling karaoke singer.April 1, 2014 at 3:30 pm #553725
The ones that come to mind….
Fantasia, “Summertime”: The most iconic AI performance ever
Carrie Underwood, “Alone”: The moment we knew Carrie would win
Kelly Clarkson, “Stuff Like That There”: Just incredible and really proved Kelly’s versatility
Adam Lambert, “Tracks of My Tears”: The best male vocal on the show. Hands down.
David Cook “Always Be My Baby”: A unique and beautiful take on the song. I really wish he had released it as a single.April 1, 2014 at 4:21 pm #553726

I’m sorry for sounding rude, but that statement makes you sound like a real crybaby.April 1, 2014 at 6:17 pm #553728
I’m sure I’ll forget a bunch of them…
How can anybody not remember Clay and Bridge? He sang that song anywhere and everywhere he went.
Adam Lambert and Mad World was insane. I still remember it being (at least to my knowledge) the first time Simon actually got up from his chair. He had been very happy and enthuasiastic before, but out of his chair, I can’t really remember a time before that (I’m sure somebody will remember).
Fantasia and Summertime is such a classic performance. As is her winning song.
Carrie Underwood and Alone is the reason why this song can’t really be done again. Carly Smithson and Come Together. Same thing.
Jordin Sparks and I Who Have Nothing (is that the name?). I think Candice did it last year too. It was such a “This season is over, she won….” moment.
Jessica Sanchez also had a killer performance or two, can’t remember any of the songs though…how lame.
Hailey Reinhart. What a stupid season this was with those two country kids ruining things. Hailey was such the underdog and I can’t even remember the moment where things changed for her. Same with Jessica, I know she has a performance or two, but can’t remember right now.
David Cook, Always Be My Baby. I loved this guy so much for not letting the themes take control of his performances, but the other way around. This season had probably the most amount of personal favorites. I’m not saying they were the best, but I remember them the most because so many of them did some really good stuff. And a large amount of songs stuck with me after this season. For me, it was the first season where I saw the contestants try different things and make their own decisions, probably because some of them (Brooke White, Carly Smithson, Michael Johns and I think Cook himself, not sure) had contracts before so they were kind of pros. They were also my favorites from this season. I remember the Mariah week, this was the first Beatles week, Dolly Parton week. All had some great choices. I believe it was also the first time they released studio recordings.
I wonder if any performance from this season will even come close to making this thread…..Of course not.April 1, 2014 at 6:24 pm #553729

Lol! Nah, I dealt with all of “America’s” stupid decisions over the years (voting off Tamyra, Hudson, LaToya, Constantine, Daughtry, Melinda and giving the title to Ruben and Taylor) and by then, the show was noticeably going downhill with all of the original judges leaving and the quickly developing trend of having celebrities who couldn’t care less about the contestants act as “mentors” to promote an upcoming album or tour. I’m actually kinda surprised that Seacrest is still there considering that he’s pretty successful outside of the show now. It’s probably contractual.April 11, 2014 at 11:24 am #553730

Lambert had incredible performances nearly every week. Of all the contestants across every season, he may have had the strongest trajectory as an artist, raising the bar for himself and making the others look like amateurs. Mad World was iconic sitting down but there was also Tracks of My Tears, Ring of Fire, and If I Can’t Have You (which was fantastic).
