    It’s time, folks!

The two-night season 13 premiere of “American Idol” begins on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, and concludes on Thursday, January 16, 2014, starting at 8 PM ET on Fox.

Returning as host is Ryan Seacrest. New judging team includes Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez, & Keith Urban. Former “Idol” judge Randy Jackson assumes new role as in-house mentor (formerly held by Jimmy Iovine).

    Discuss.

Cannot wait. Love Keith as a judge. J-Lo was a good judge the first time around but kinda wish Mariah would have stuck around. Harry should be awesome.

I have been a fan since the beginning, but last season was a train wreck. Let’s hope this season will be better, because if it’s not, then it’s time to drop the cancellation hammer.

Cannot wait. Loce Keith as a judge. J-Lo was a good judge the first time around but kinda wish Mariah would have stuck around. Harry should be awesome.

Couldn’t disagree more. I hate Jennifer Lopez was a judge and actually thought Keith Urban was the only saving grace of last year’s judging panel. I do agree with you that Harry Connick, Jr. will be great!

Jennifer Lopez is definately a better judge than Nicki so thank goodness for that but from the comercial, it seems that the judges have great chemistry. Thats what really counts in the long run.

Train wrecks that still top their network are never worthy of cancellation.

I liked her at first but she kinda got progessively more annoying as the season went on.

I thought that AI was going in the right direction with her. A modern artist would understand the young mind and know how the contestants would feel during the contest. She’s more relevant in the industry than Mariah Carey or Jennifer Lopez is/was.

American Idol Heading to New York for Season Finale

    Jan 9, 2014 09:47 PM ET

    by Natalie Abrams

American Idol is reportedly heading to New York City for its upcoming season finale, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The season 13 finale of the Fox reality singing competition is slated to take place at Madison Square Garden. This would mark the first time in the show’s history that the finale would not be held in Los Angeles, which is where Idol‘s live shows tape.

The upcoming season, featuring judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick, Jr., kicks off Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 8/7c on Fox.

What do you think of the big move?

I agree that Jennifer Lopez isn’t as relevant in the music indusrty as she used to be but gotta disagree about Mariah. She still is relevant in the music industry I think. I kinda was disappointed when her album didn’t get released for the upcoming Grammys. I think she would have taken some nominations away from some of the filler nominees.

They already have some awesome people. I’ll start w the judges:

Harry: He was born to do this. A+
Jenniffer: I still think she is too nice as a judge but overall good job. B
    Keith: So much fun. A+

Now five stood out to me in particular:

    1) Sam Woolf
    2) Kaitlyn Jackson
    3) Austin (he sang Titanium)
    4) Savion Wright
    5) guy who sang the Stevie Wonder song
