The two-night season 14 premiere of Fox’s “American Idol” airs on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 @ 8 PM ET (1 hour) and Thursday, January 8, 2015 @ 8 PM ET (2 hours).
Harry Connick, Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban return as judges.
Ryan Seacrest returns as host.
Scott Borchetta replaces Randy Jackson as in-house mentor.
Auditions begin in Nashville, Tennessee. Other sites this season include New Orleans, Louisiana, and San Francisco, California.
The show will air as a 2-hour episode one night a week starting with the live shows in mid-March.

I don’t see the one episode a week format working – fans will want to know right away who is eliminated. SYTYCD gets away with it because the fan base is much more dedicated and wants to see the “eliminated” dancers anyway.
What the show should seriously consider is having 30-minute results shows, which Fox can probably do since they would be on Fridays. Fox can air one of its new comedies in the remaining 30-minute slot.January 6, 2015 at 2:45 pm #554634
I am a huge American Idol fan and have stuck with the show through thick and thin. Even though the show has seen better days, I am still excited to see the competition.
As for this season, I was never a huge fan of J.Lo, and think that she is the worst of the current judging panel, but I like Keith and Harry, so I can’t really complain too much.
I will post frequently on this thread about this and that whenever I get the opportunity to do so.January 6, 2015 at 4:55 pm #554635
I’m right there with you, Tyler. I’m still a huge fan of the show. I thought last season was excellent. They made a number of smart improvements.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s premiere.January 6, 2015 at 10:22 pm #554636

Tonight should be good. The judges have chemistry and auditions are always fun. Can’t wait!!!January 7, 2015 at 6:14 pm #554638
They showed the Top 24 before the show even started??!!
Captain… incoming rant.
This is a horrible idea for several reasons. One, a highly trained ear can listen to the voices of the Top 24 and pinpoint which of the auditionees will make it and spoil the surprise by posting it online. I mean, part of the fun of American Idol is seeing if your favourites make it to the Top 24 and if you already heard them at the beginning is just a major red flag for me. I realize that they film the auditions the previous summer and have already done that nitty-gritty already but they can still wait it out and surprise the 99% of us who don’t know. I sure hope they get rid of this if they have another season.January 8, 2015 at 8:50 am #554639
I liked the top 24 singing and honestly think I may have identified one of them already. But back to the auditions lol.
Riley Bria: Nice voice…….kinda dull. Not going to write him off yet though becuase his voice was that good.
Prisciilla: Good voice but I agreed with J-Lo
Cameron (don’t know the last name): WOW! My favorite voice there so far.
The girl who sang the Elvis song: I’m not sure why she went through to be honest. She isn’t ready.
Kory the coffee guy: Awesome voice.
Michael Simeon: So far my pick to win this entire thing.
Emily: The next Taylor Swift? Maybe.
Anyways, my grade for the episode: B+ (I want to see more trainwreck auditions lol)January 9, 2015 at 8:40 am #554640
So that was one hell of an episode last night.
Andrew: Ugh….I hate him already.
Piper: Loved her!
Kelly: She was really good.
Garrett: Not sure what to think here. Voice is ok but the personality is AWESOME.
The one girl band: Loved her.
Alex from last season: Much better this time around.
Cody french fries: Fun guy but that voice is WOW.
Hector from Florida: Yawn
4th audition girl: Loved her
Savion: Live Rounds needed him last season and he should sail through to them this season hopefully.
Zack: needs to stop hitting on J-Lo. Other than that….meh.
Naoimi the girl who sang on the floor: Loved her.
The OCD oragami guy: Nice voice.
Jess Lamb: My fav so far.
The Judges were a lot of fun tonight again as well. My grade for the episode: AJanuary 14, 2015 at 12:29 pm #554641
Auditions in Kansas City, Missouri tonight.January 14, 2015 at 6:04 pm #554642
I found the best of this year tonight. Kohlton Pascal. He has the best voice since Phillip Phillips. I really hope he goes through to the Top Ten.January 15, 2015 at 6:36 am #554643
Just some thoughts on the people that went through:
Ron wilson: Nice voice but I find him to be a bit much.
accordian girl: Yawn
hippie country girl: Yawn
Anton: Awesome voice.
the Steve Perry fangirl: Loved her voice.
Ellen the yodel girl:Loved her voice
Colton: Loved his audition but will he connect with the viewers to the extent that judges want him to? I don’t know. He kinda seemed a little too doom and gloom in my opinion. Put him against a happy energetic person and it might be funny to watch. I think the best way to describe him is this: Unique.January 16, 2015 at 6:29 am #554644
That was an “interesting” episode. Lambert was a hoot.
Sal: Honestly, nice voice but boring to watch.
J None: Not bad but not wow either. I liked the bear though.
Qasssim: Not sure what to think really. Nice presence but ok voice.
the toy guy: not bad.
Nick with the guitar: Not bad.
The original song guy at the end: Not sure. Great voice but didnt love it either.January 21, 2015 at 9:42 am #554645
Auditions continue tonight.January 22, 2015 at 6:21 am #554646
I actually remember the majority of the names from last night:
Shannon from St. Paul: Not bad. Not wow either. I gotta see more.
Vanessa Andrea: Love her voice.
Zach Johnson: Yawn-ish at first but when he lost the little accent he was a lot better.
Cindy Jo: Yawn. I found the bear thing more amusing than her audition.
Jacob: When he tried the Sam Smith I hated it. When he did the Jerry Lee Lewis song, I liked it. Not sure how long he will last.
Don’t remember her name but she sang the etta james song: Nice.
Mark Andrew: LOVED this audition. His voice is absolultely a throwback but it’s so awesome.
