I’ll have to look at the back of Kenya’s again. I thought the shade of green came across questionable on television, but it might have looked a little less garish in person or in the photos they took. I personally liked the print a lot, but I can see people hating it as well. I just remembered the thing about selling the outfit on JCP.com. That kind of makes me more surprised that Shawn didn’t win. Her outfit looked more retail friendly than Kentaro’s or Kenya’s.September 26, 2017 at 5:38 am #1202223771

OH THE DRAMA THAT WE’LL GET NEXT EPISODE!
This week’s challenge was a little weird in that none of the teams did great, but it was clear pretty immediately which two were the worst. Brandon and Kentaro looked like they were being set up to fail, which their own confidence and everyone talking about them being the team to beat, followed by Tim’s lukewarm critique, but I wasn’t falling for it. They certainly did the best job of creating looks that seem like JC Penney might already sell them. It was, I think, too on-brand, though both gals looked really good and had the right kind of vibe. It made sense, though, that they went with something a little more unique in Margarita’s fun take on the shirt dress. This is the first time I remember really liking some Margarita made, but she also to me seems like the kind of contestant who’ll have one great moment and then not really deliver afterwards. She hasn’t been my favorite contestant — she seems to complain constantly about things and it really bugged me the way she acted last week — but given that she’ll be around for at least the next two weeks, maybe I’m underrating her. Batani’s dress was fine, but could have easily been part of a losing pair as well if it had been with a disastrous look.
I know they didn’t like Kenya and Amy did, though I thought Amy’s suit kind of had potential if she’d done it differently. The clear dumpster fire here, though, was with Claire and Shawn. I think they actually make each other worse the more closely they try to work together. The number of bad ideas coming from them was staggering. Once again, it looked like Claire was spending way too much time helping Shawn with her look, but also once again, Claire’s look was way worse. That top was unbelievably ugly. It’ll be interesting to see how this one-hour challenge goes down. Claire seems more capable of actually constructing something wearable in an hour, but it will almost surely look terrible. I really think Shawn has the potential to actually make an impact if she can find it in herself to stand on her own and just do it, but because Claire has been here all along, she’s basically been stuck in the mode contestants are sometimes in for the first challenge, where they are timid and unsure. I wish they’d gotten to the design showdown this week, as they have when they’ve done this in the past, but they’ll be doubled down on drama next week, and I can’t wait.September 30, 2017 at 8:52 am #1202227080
These twins…what a mess of an episode for them, a clear path to let Claire go and then they just HAD to make them stay for absolutely no reason. Is it just me or has it become clear for quite some time that Claire is the worst one? I’ve never seen her do anything and I’ve always gotten the feeling that Shawn is the one who does more. This two-people challenge is unnecessary and they just wanted to create an in-season spinoff to grab viewers. No need for this. Claire deserved to go.
As for the rest, I think Margarita deserved her win. Her outfit was what the challenge asked for. It looked like a man’s shirt made into a dress. Batani’s look wasn’t quite as good. And Kentaro and Brandon did versions of what they’ve been doing all along and looked like they belonged in the collection themselves along with their models. It’s cool. It’s great. It’s also tiresome. And these are your Top2 so it’s either going to get better or more annoying. I think their outfits were close winners, but they didn’t look masculine or inspired by menswear at all. Just some awesome women’s clothes.
Also, is this the season of the hanging fabric? Everything Brandon does has something hanging from it. Claire and Shawn always want to save their outfits by having something hanging out of it. Now Kentaro is following. And I think Michael or his partner went for it too.
The editors as usual made sure you knew Amy was finally getting a review. And it was obvious she would be on the bottom. I loved how she criticized the twins for their green look and she was something equally bad in the interview with her green mess.
It sucks that the twins are so soooo bad. But then they dress good themselves. How is it that you can have a great fashion sense for yourself and then act like you’ve never seem clothes before in your life when it’s your turn to do something? Their style and shitty designs don’t go together. Same with Samantha last week. You look at Amy on the runway wearing that awful looking outfit and you know that blue thing is hers. But you look at the twins and can’t understand how they did that grey dress and that awful green/grey shirt.
The underwhelming guest judges just keep showing up. Why is Asia Kate Dillon a judge for this show?
Anyway. Good episode. Looking forward to Michael’s rant. I really thought it would be about the twins, apparently it’s something else.September 30, 2017 at 11:38 am #1202227139
Pretty uninspired pairing of the show to JCPenneys this season and challenge, whose clothes are so bottom-barrel that there’s not much to be made with their fabrics, accessories, or overall aesthetics. I personally would have chosen Brandon and Kentaro’s group for making the most fashionable pairing of designs out of mostly nothing. I think much of the winners’ decision here hinged on the costs of reproducing the looks for mass market, which in the end shouldn’t be that big of a deal wholesale, and duh, you can make more $$$ selling separates than one-piece dresses. I’d also agree with the idea that the winning dress might be hard to replicate fashionably for plus-sized women. But whatever. Nice redemption arc for Margarita, I guess, but does she really have the nerve to say in the previews next week that she “doesn’t throw people under the bus,” which is exactly what that bitch did to her model last week when her tired Aaliyah streetwear look didn’t please the judges and barely escaped elimination? SMDH. Now to the twins drama. No need to drag out an elimination like this to next week unnecessarily, and if I had my druthers, I would have opted for the “shock” double elimination instead since it’s clear now that neither sister is top four Fashion Week material. The faceoff might provide for some cheap thrills, through I’m unsure who will rise up to the challenge. I guesssss Shawn edges out the more unstable Claire? I don’t think one is necessarily more talented than the other one, but it will boil down to timing and luck in the end. Kenya and Amy’s designs were equally horrible. 70’s-era flight attendants was the perfect description for those tired and old looks. Amy hasn’t made that big of an impression on me and seems to be the older designer that’s normally eliminated in the first 2 weeks of the season. Kenya was the greater disappointment based on her past output, and her sense of entitlement for staying around was off-putting. “One day you’re in, and the next day, you’re out!” Pretty savvy to have Asia Kate Dillon as guest judge in this blending of menswear-inspired womenswear challenge. They’s styling was quite feminine though. Maybe that was done not to confuse Lifetime’s basic audience demographics? Either way, looking forward to a better challenge concept next week and resolution to the Claire/Shawn debacle.September 30, 2017 at 8:54 pm #1202227355
Margarita also pretended she didn’t throw the model under the bus during the hotel scenes. She really has no idea what she did.October 2, 2017 at 8:49 am #1202228270
Yeah, I guess Marg was so focused on not being eliminated she might not even realize how she made poor Christina sound like a diva, even when Zac was like, “Oh yeah, difficult client.” She definitely lacks self-awareness. I hope they invite the models to the reunion show.
When Heidi said something like, “We may not like it, but we know what we have to do,” I thought surely they were eliminating both twins. And yeah, I think Claire has CLEARLY been the worse of the two, and the judges should be able to see that without a face-off challenge. Shawn’s stretchy sweater dress or whatever may have looked trashy, but you can see people wanting to wear it at least. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to put on that hideous top Claire made. My concern, though, is that because Claire is (and this has also been pretty clear) the better sewer/tailor, she’ll pull something more presentable together in an hour than Shawn, who, given some of her indecision and anxiety, might need an hour to made a toga. I hope Shawn stays, though, because I think without Claire there she could end up being a strong contestant with a shot at Fashion Week. I don’t see that being a possibility for Claire in any circumstance.
It’s pretty surprising Amy hasn’t been eliminated yet, as not one thing she’s made until now has been impressive or remarkable.October 3, 2017 at 8:11 am #1202228976
Well I have to say once again I can’t stand the input from the models … for me this isn’t ANTM and I don’t want it to be .. it’s really making the show a slog and its making it harder to learn to like the people when we waste so much time chatting with the models and worrying about their input. The Twins spent half the episode worried about Liris … She wasn’t the customer, JC Penny was. I am all for different shaped models but I don’t need their input in the show, just wear what you have been given regardless of your size.
No that aside I like the challenge. I think Margarita and Bahtni were great and I loved Margs dress. Its for sale on JC penny .com for 40 bucks and sold out in every size… so Get it gurl …
Kentaro and Brandons looks were great just not very Jc Penny … So I see why they didn’t win. Amy and Kenya were not good. Their looks were horrible … But at least well made, Amy has horrible style and has through out the show … I haven’t liked a single thing she has made the whole season. She should be already gone.
The twins are a disaster … I refuse to learn which one is which. But the bald one is horrible… she is not only untalented , she has no skills and is one of the most irritating people ive ever seen on tv and im including the entire last season of bb…. Now hair is just marginally better… I mean by like a half inch….. they both should have been eliminated …. I assume hair will make it since she knows how to sew and baldy doesn’t… but I truly don’t care they both suck….
Yea for next week…..

Episode Title: “Client on the Go”
Synopsis: The remaining designers are tasked with creating an on-the-go look for friends and family of the “Project Runway” crew; the good-spirited challenge turns ugly when accusations of plagiarism cloud the results of a highly contentious runway judging; Sophia Stallone and Yolanda Hadid serve as guest judges; another contestant is eliminated from the competition.

Another cliffhanger episode! I hope this doesn’t become a regular thing now, where we have to wait until next week to see the results of the challenge.
The resolution of the face-off with the twins was a little disappointing, as I always like to see what designers come up with in such a short timeframe, but Shawn was clearly not in it anymore. She basically tried to concede on the runway before the judges deliberated, insisting that she should be the one to go home of the two of them, but the judges weren’t sure. I found it endearing for both of them.
As for this week’s challenge, Margarita is kind of the worst. The episode seemed to be working to make Claire sympathetic and make Margarita beyond obnoxious, and it totally worked as far as I’m concerned. The other designers did seem to be totally ignoring Claire, which I guess they have a right to do, but still just seemed like a very mean girl thing to do, even if they feel like she deserves to be left twisting in the wind because of all the helping she and Shawn did for one another. And Margarita’s obsession with Claire’s top looking too much like her dress was so irritating. If she really felt like Claire was copying off of her, she should have said something to her instead of telling every other person and talking about it every time they weren’t in the same room. I almost fell over laughing when she waited eagerly to eavesdrop on Tim’s critique of Claire, only for him to say the shirt looked too similar to one that Claire had done before! (I looked back through some of the previous designs, and I guess he was referring to the top she did for the sleepwear challenge, which had about as much in common with Margarita’s shirt dress as the top Claire was planning on her dress form.) Then, when Claire changed the top and that became a non-issue, instead of letting it go, she starts whispering to Michael in Spanish about Claire cheating and copying a pair of pants she already owns and measuring things in her room, which, for one thing, is pretty convenient that it only came up after her first line of complaining was taken away from her and for another, it doesn’t seem like she actually knows for a fact and is just making assumptions. It just looks really bad for Marg, who then made the runway unnecessarily dramatic by implying something happened but, because she wasn’t raised to throw people under the bus (LOLOL she was practically yelling about the copying thing for anyone but Claire to hear and it would CLEARLY be on the show), she couldn’t say anything. My feeling is she didn’t want to say anything more because she couldn’t even be sure this had happened, let alone back it up in any way. Michael walking off the runway after Claire got the win was even more unnecessary drama. Suffice to say, I can’t wait to see how this all pans out.
In terms of designs, I think it was a not great decision to make the print challenge also a real people challenge. I think the print is a good opportunity to push the designers, but trying to design actual clothes that these women are going to actually wear is limiting. Claire was smart with the pattern and did a good job of walking the line. I loved Kenya’s print, but it looked like the print that you can already find on a Dixie cup, and also she shouldn’t have done the peplum. It was fun seeing the judges disagree, though. They’ve been very much on the same page this season. Margarita’s print was terrible, but dying it was really smart. She unfortunately messed up with fabric, in addition to making two pieces that pretty clearly didn’t go together. Batani’s dress was underwhelming, but I thought it was fine. Michael’s look, on the other had, was terrible. I appreciate that he was trying to give the woman what she wanted, but I didn’t like the print, liked the overall top even less and really hated the pants.October 7, 2017 at 11:16 am #1202232069
The utter nonsense of this episode was frustrating. The mylifetime site already spoiled that Shawn was going home, so that was disappointing. I didn’t think she would give up as easily as that, but it goes to show what we’ve seen all along. Under time constraints as severe as this show, Shawn really needs Claire for support and assistance. I’m actually glad that Claire won this challenge. It was only “client on the go” that I saw from the top three. If I’m not mistaken, aren’t the specialized Dixie cup commercials already showing a black-and-white cup that looks JUST like Claire’s pants? Has Lifetime spoiled shit again?!?! SMDH. Margarita is just the fucking worst, isn’t she? The “cheating” angle is subjective and highly overblown to me since Claire ended up not doing the same ruching? effect of Margarita’s JCPenney look last week. And then Michael had to go into full-on drama queen mode and storm off the runway was just too much! “I believe in fairnesssss!” Well, if you think everyone’s going to play fair in the fashion, then think long and hard about this being your life’s work. The group not talking to Claire in the sew room was so mean girly and shitty. Hopefully Tim Gunn gets to the bottom of this. It’s one thing how Shawn aped her model’s blouse from before, but Claire supposedly getting inspiration from pants she already owns is reaching to me Maybe Claire’s win will be rescinded? A lot’s at stake with $25K. It looks like a very easy call for Michael to go home for that dreadful Native American look, or Batani for not using the prints properly. I could see the save being used on either one of them though. These cliffhangers are maddening! Do I really need to wait 7 days for the results? Sigh. Also, we might have to look at this as the beginning of the end of the series with “Project Runway” being a major property of the television division of The Weinstein Company, which might not exist this time next year lol. Sad, but true.October 7, 2017 at 4:05 pm #1202232194
First of all….we all should be prepared to see Amy in the finale. That woman is just going to stay safe all the way through and somebody is just going to stand up and say “what the fuck are you doing here?” I can’t believe there’s always somebody better or somebody worse and she never ends up going home, never wins and has been judged once and of course…she wasn’t the worst. She made a truly horrible print and outfit (except for the shirt) and here comes Batani with her awful outfit and Michael with those pants.
Brandon has to stop it with the hanging fabric. I’m close to being over him.
As for the Shawn and Claire drama, bless Shawn for making it easy and not going forward with a very unnecessary challenge between them.
Then comes Margarita extremely overreacting with Claire’s design. Yes, at first it looked like her design but once Tim came in the design changed and nothing was like anything Margarita had done, so let it go and focus on your thing. No wonder she fucked up. I also don’t appreciate her running around telling people about the not-copied design. Yes, very mean girl of her. However I think people not talking to Claire was more of “let’s see how you do without Shawn now that we’ve endured this team for so long” than let’s be on Margarita’s side and not talk to you.
It was funny that it took about three tries for me to understand what happened with Claire and the pants, and they said it both in english AND spanish. Michael finally said what it was and yeah, it’s pretty bad. I understood that Claire was copying the pants by taking a measuring tape with her (according to Margarita) to he hote room perhaps to understand how to make the pants. Not just copy them, but know how to make them. That’s unfair.
I thought Kentaro had this, but a dress for a wedding is not “on the go”. Perhaps the challenge should’ve been clearer. So it makes sense that Claire wins, but winning considering how much she sucks, then the Dixie cup print AND THEN 25000 dollars? No wonder Michael exploded. Can’t really blame him.
Let’s see how this turns out, but it would be really bad if Margarita is just wrong here, Michael understood something that did’t really happen and Claire still wins.
Claire’s outfit was pretty good. A little been there done that. But “on the go” and perfectly done and the best print out there. Batani 100% deserves to go (not Michael).
I will say that Tim has severely dropped the ball with the twins. We should consider that these guys are also probably still pissed that Shawn copied her outfit from a couple of weeks ago, an outfit that could’ve won. And now Claire does something similar, copying shit, and actually wins. With the now twice mentioned mandatory disclaimer from Amy that “being inspired is normal”. Thanks professor.
Tim should’ve said something or noticed things a long time ago. Of course this is a tv show, the producer’s hands are in this, but he’s not coming off too good eithet.
Sorry for the long post.October 9, 2017 at 8:10 am #1202233091
I still don’t fully understand what is happening with Claire and what exactly Margarita is saying she did, but I’m sure they’ll clarify it this week. Claire made pants last week, and I think the pants were the only thing the judges found unoffensive in either her or Shawn’s looks. She helped Shawn make pants the week before, and the outfit almost won. So it’s not like she doesn’t know how to do it, unless this was something she did weeks ago, in which case, it should have been mentioned then. If Claire did something as blatant as just actually copying a pair of pants she owns, that would warrant actual tattling, not this whispering, implied, “I don’t throw people under the bus (unless they’re my model)” BS.
Between Batani and Michael, I think she seems like the better option because she was working around the print not turning out the way she wanted and because her client genuinely loved the look. Nothing would convince me Michael’s client liked that look, and there wasn’t one good thing about it.
I keep thinking there’ll be a challenge where Amy’s boring look will just stand out for being too dull and she’ll be eliminated. It would be truly disappointing if she made the final four unless she steps it up significantly.October 9, 2017 at 8:42 am #1202233138
Well no surprise with the twins … I knew she would leave and let her sister go ahead . I think Shawn has a chance of making the finale if she can hone her skills and work on excuiting her vision.
I do agree I wish they had made the print challenge and the real people one different because I think that with the print challenge the designers need to have full control of what they create and when the have a client it makes it more diffilut for them to make a print that Is them while dressing a client .
For the prints
Shawn – Decent print .. Simple but works
Batani – didn’t work… way to boring .
Michael – I liked the print … but didn’t like how he used it
Brandon – Loved the print
Margarita – didn’t hate it … I don’t know why she was surprised it was that damned bright on the computer
Kenya- SOOOO cute … she didn’t make a cute outfit and the client was so happy
Kentaro- LOVED IT
Amy- fucking horrible
I think that Kentaro should have won, his model looked glorioius … she was a vision . Shawn , Brandon and Ayane were all top looks. I could never fault Kenya because she gave the client what she wanted .. made cute print and the only think she did wrong was give another peplum…
Amy, Margarita, Batni and Michel were in the bottom, but I think Michael was better than Amy… At least Michael gave his client something she wanted… Amys look was like assless chaps.. Based on the looks Batni should go home.. Overall Amy should go home… I think Michael will end up going home for being a child.
Margarita and Michael acted like little children .. Shawn didn’t copy , a pleat is a pleat …Margarita screwed up her own look by being angry and Michael was being a childish diva … after their behavior this week I don’t see either in the finale… as much as the show is based on looks and work , I think the judges places a lot of thought on the designer and their attitude … storming off the stage is rude and disrespectful and shouldn’t be rewarded.
