Please, please, please, pleasepleaseplease, PLEASE, did I mention “please,” please tell me that the stories about So You Think You Can Dance? changing to a “juniors” format (along the lines of The Netherlands’ SYTYCD The Next Generation), where all of the contestants are in the 8-to-13 age range, are just that – stories.December 19, 2015 at 1:38 pm #556072
I guess that gets rid of some of the kid dancers for America’s Got Talent then lolDecember 19, 2015 at 4:10 pm #556073
And they will lose me as a viewer.December 21, 2015 at 9:15 am #556074
Yikes, yeah, I have no interest in seeing that.
I think SYTYCD has reached the point in its life cycle that pretty much all realities show get to where they’ve done pretty much everything the viewers want to see and now they either just continue to do those things over again, try to come up with different things that the viewer actually doesn’t really want to see that much, or cease to exist. I still love the show, but anything fresh they’ve tried in the last couple of years has come off as weird or just not been that enjoyable to watch.December 26, 2015 at 6:02 pm #556076
Back when the Fox network had forums for each of their shows, quite a few people each year would say, “I’m from (some country outside of the USA), how do I get on the show?” (Those tended to compete with “I’m (choose one: in my 30s, 16/17 years old); why can’t I be on the show?” for the most popular questions asked.
The problem is, in order to be eligible for the USA version, you must either (a) be a U.S. Citizen, (b) be a Permanent Resident (that is, have what is called a “Green Card”), or (c) have a work visa that lets you work anywhere in the USA for at least a year after you want to audition for the show. Of course, that assumes there’s going to be another season of the show in the USA; Fox has made no announcement about a new season yet, and it’s getting to the point where they have to have arrangements made with the theaters where the auditions will be held.January 5, 2016 at 7:59 am #556077
If they have a junior edition I will not be watching this year. I wish they would just leave it alone, if you are a fan of the show you watch and if you are not then you don’t watch.February 3, 2016 at 9:33 am #556078
I guess the juniors edition (“The Next Generation”) is actually happening. It’s hard for me to believe anyone thought this was a good idea. Looks like no one involved with this decision believes in bowing out gracefully, but I will be bowing out of watching this season.
