While no official announcement has been made yet, apparently casting calls have been sent out for SYTYCD Season 14. The good news is, it’s back to the 18-30 age range format.

There is one strange thing about the early audition calls; they are looking for both dancers and choreographers. It is not clear if the choreographers are limited to the age range.

That’s great news about the age change. I didn’t watch at all last season, but maybe I’ll tune back in for this upcoming season.

I’m cautiously optimistic hearing this news. I sure hope it goes back to the original format. I boycotted last season as well. I would love to return to the show again!

Fox has just confirmed Season 14, and it will be going back to the 18-to-30 age limit, but auditions are going to be done the way they were for the kids – everybody has to send in a video, from which the producers will choose dancers who will be asked to audition in either New York or Los Angeles (it’s not clear if the show pays for the dancers’ travel or not); from there, dancers go to “The Academy” (no more “Vegas Week”), in which ten “All-Stars” will each choose one dancer to be one of the ten finalists.

Here’s something I noticed: when you apply, you need to specify your style of dance, one of which is Latin/Ballroom. However, the Online Audition Requirements (B.2.E) are quite clear in that only the person in question may appear in the video. How do you do a Latin or ballroom “solo”?

I’m happy to hear they are going back to older contestants, I didn’t even watch last season. In all honesty tho the last few seasons with Paula and Jason have been unbearable, so they not only need to go back to older contestants but it is imperative that they find better judges.

It was just announced that Mary Murphy will be back as a judge, and HALLE-freaking-LUJAH!

Apparently, that went over like a lead balloon; the press release announcing Mary Murphy’s return also says that “walk-ins” will be allowed at both the New York and Los Angeles auditions.
