The 14th season of The Apprentice is set to start in the spring

The cast will be revealed today allegedly.
So far, the celebrities rumored to be joining are:

    • Kate Gosselin
    • David Hasselhoff
    • Martina Navratilova
    • Terrell Owens
    • Johnny Weir
    • Ian Ziering

I’ll post the full list when it comes out

My biggest problem is that this is the CELEBRITY Apprentice, but very few of these people actually count as proper celebrities. The closest they’ve gotten are people like Penn Jillette, Gary Busey (yeah…), Bret Michaels, Joan Rivers, Sharon Osbourne etc.

I hope they manage to get at least one or two higher-profile celebrities (I don’t know what Jerry Seinfeld has been doing outside of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but I think he’d be a good fit for this show)

As a HUGE fan of the celebrity version of this show, I’ll say this …

I think that even though you need to show skills and smarts nobody thought you could ever have (Aubrey O’Day), it’s still a very embarrassing show to be on. It’s not like Dancing With the Stars where you compete and work your ass off more than you’ve probably ever done in your life (unless you’re an athlete), so at least you’re actually working and competing and then the cameras are off. Here you’re just being humilliated, showing how dumb you are or picking a fight. Very few people end up on the good side of things when one of these seasons is over.

So let’s not expect this to be the show were huge celebrities will end up. They at least have some success stories they can aspire to with Joan and Arsenio who basically got a comeback thanks to this show. I doubt Joan had Fashion Police lined up before she got here and clearly Arsenio got his new talk show thanks to his exposure here.

Having said that, Johnny Weir is a celebrity right now, Ian Ziering was a true celebrity at one point, you can’t get any more “celebrity” than David Hasselhoff (who according to rumors hasn’t signed on yet but has been invited). I think all three are on the true side of “celebrity”.

Jerry Seinfeld? Common, he wouldn’t even do a guest spot on the show in one of the challenges.

But who cares about them? What I want to know is if Brandi Glanville and Kenya Moore signed on already. They’re part of the rumored cast and I’m a admit that I’m a big fan of the housewives. They will both be a huge mess and I can’t wait to see it. I don’t come to this show to see if Ian Ziering knows a thing or two about branding, I want to see Brandi and Kenya go at it with each other or with everybody else.

Rumored but not signed yet to the cast:
    Brandi Glanville
    Kenya Moore
    Geraldo Rivera
    Keshia Knight Pulliam

Also, the show hasn’t even started filming yet, they don’t even have a complete cast. And yesterday Deadline just announced the show had been renewed, even if Trump said it was renewed way back in may/june last year, but without any confirmation from NBC.

Deadline noted that that it “skipped a season”, I guess it means that the season will debut in the summer/fall or in their usual debut date but in 2015. I’m all for this starting in the summer when there will be nothing else to do but laugh at Under the Dome.

Oh, I definitely agree that bigger stars won’t appear on this – my suggestion is that they make it a bit more prestigous and classy instead of the angry, nasty reality show it is becoming

Would love to see Kate and Brandi fight it out. Something tells me if they both are on this season, they will do that.

Sidenote,  Shawn Johnson is also rumored to be in the cast.

Here is the pretty much confirmed cast:

    Women
    Kate Gosselin
    Shawn Johnson
    Gabrielle Reece
    Brandi Glanville
    Jamie Anderson
    Leeza Gibbons
    Vivica A. Fox
    Kenya Moore

    Men
    Ian Ziering
    Geraldo Rivera
    Gilbert Gottfriend
    Sig Hansen
    Johnny Damon
    Terrell Owens
    Lorenzo Lamas
    Kevin Jonas

I’m curious to know how Gillbert Gottfried is going to present himself, if he is going to use his own persona or the person presented to the audience of the loud, screeching jerk.

I think what you need to survive in this contest is experience and smarts, and you know how to play the game by not getting everyone to hate you. It is that reason that Joan Rivers, Annie Duke, Bret Michaels, Holly Robinson Peete, John Rich, Marlee Matlin, Arsenio Hall, Clay Aiken, Penn Jillette and Trace Adkins made it to the finals – they were smart, experienced and didn’t really cause much controversy or ruffle any major feathers. That’s why people like Omarosa would never win – there is just too much controversy around her. So I doubt any of the Real Housewives ladies (unless they’re passive like Teresa Guidice) will make it very far. I think we’ll be seeing either Leeza Gibbons or Geraldo Rivera in the finals, facing off against someone like Gabrielle Reece. The rest are just there to cause some controversy

This cast is so random and should be a crazy boatload of fighting. The only ones that I can see being quiet and not joining in the fighting are Kevin Jonas, Sig Hansen, Shawn Johnson, and Jamie Anderson.

I wouldn’t put Joan Rivers in that list. That season was all about her vs Annie vs Brandie/Brandi/Brandy when they went after Melissa Rivers. Nobody else stood a chance. But of course they kept the controversy between the three of them, not with the whole cast like Omarosa would do.

Also, you don’t just need smarts and experience, Trump is also biased towards each charity and the level of celebrity. That’s exactly what Aubrey O’Day and Lisa Lampanelli were lacking. Easily two of the best contenders the show ever had suffered from it. People could say that Lisa going after Trump’s own queen of the universe was too much for him, but also she’s a stand up comic with a gay charity. And then Aubrey who just got annoyed at how dumb and slow everybody else was, was just a former everything (reality star, singer, band member) way down on the D List with another gay charity. Both of them against a former big late night host with the Magic Johnson AIDS foundation? Who cares if he was the laziest man around, he still won.

Also, Trace Adkins vs Penn Jillette?. Please, I would’ve voted Trace Adkins before the finals, Penn was a great player, but against the Red Cross and Trace’s own story with them, he wasn’t going to loose to Penn.

As for this season, if you’ve seen their shows, you know Brandi will be drunk and ruin things for herself pretty quickly and get into a million fights. Kenya on the other hand won’t be drunk, but will expect to be treated like the biggest celebrity in the room and of course she won’t be. That will be enough. Fight!

I gotta chime in about Arsenio’s season. I loved him on the show but I still will never understand why Aubrey made it so far. She annoyed me.

While I acknowledged Aubrey’s talent, it couldn’t stand her personality and attitude. Some of her ideas were responsible for the team’s loss, but she was never really in the hot seat since there were always someone weaker than her. Debbie Gibson was let go too soon. She and Lisa should have represented the women who went farthest in the game.

Mark Burnett should consider asking Survivor’s Russell Hanz to do this show and fill ‘Reality TV Star’ slots. He’s a businessman and proved to be a ruthless and devious player in Survior. He would probably get fired in the end due to saying something unpleasant to Donald Trump.

Lisa was great in tasks but Audrey was very good but besides her very into herself personality, she raised the least amound of money out of the final 4.

Ugh Debbie Gibson’s firing is why this show is so fixed.  Not only was she performing good and won as project manager, she did nothing to be fired on the task she was fired.  You had than bozo tax cheat from the Real Housewives, a popular NBC Universal franchise.  So they couldn’t fire her yet.  She was kept till the final 5 where she couldn’t even get up and give a presentation in front of executives.  She failed to bring Aubrey back who raised the least amount of money.  That would have gotten most people fired, but they couldn’t let go of a Housewife so they randomly picked Debbie!  Grrr still angry.
