    “Top
Chef” Sets Season 13 Premiere Date, Celebrity Guests

    October 19, 2015 | 03:14 PM PT

    Jacob Bryant, VARIETY

“Top Chef” is returning with a two-night premiere on
Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Thursday, Dec. 3.

Bravo’s Emmy and James Beard Award-winning show will be
spending its 13th season on the road across California, making stops in LA, San
Diego, Santa Barbara, Oakland, the Greater Palm Springs area, and San
Francisco, where the series first began.

A teaser trailer previewing the latest season hints at
the return of the Sudden Death Quickfire challenge, an episode catering “the
ultimate gay wedding,” and a plating challenge where the chefs’ fate will be
determined by Instagram fans. The contestants will also serve food to MC Hammer
on the Oakland waterfront and Chrissy Teigen in Palm Springs.

Host Padma Lakshmi and head judge Tom Colicchio are
returning alongside judges Gail Simmons, Richard Blais and Emeril Lagasse.
Celebrity guest judges will include Hugh Acheson, Max Silvestri, Ludo Lefebvre,
    Dana Cowin, and more.

After the two-night premiere, “Top Chef” will air
regularly on Thursday nights at 10 p.m.

Well finally. Their showing reruns of Nicholas, Nina’s season and I searched a couple of days ago and found nothing about the date.

Pretty weird that they’re premiering so late in the year only to have a very likely two week break right away for Christmas.

I wonder why or how Grayson made it back in. Nothing was mentioned about it and it makes no sense when she’s the only one coming back. I’m trying to remember if this has happend before other than that season with Stefan and the annoying girl right? (lesbian, black hair, asian/latin? I want to call her “Jessie” but I know that’s not her name) but it was mentioned and it was a so-called twist. This season Grayson is just there because….why?

    Anyway…good start to the season…

Beyond happy that Frances got emilinated (sounds mean but I really couldn’t stand her on this show…liked her on Cutthroat kitchen or Chopped (she was on one of them) though).

Binged the first three episodes recently. It’s a deep well of talented chefs this season. The guys are very bro-ey, which usually annoys me, but maybe not so much here since most are engaging enough as personalities. I like the road-trip through California conceit, and this is the most professional of the judging panels that you’re ever going to see on reality television. I think I liked the sea urchin challenge the best b/c it was a Sudden Death Quickfire. Angelina is so useless, ugh. Get rid of her already! Gizelle isn’t much better, but at least she beat Angelina twice in that match-up and the surf-and-turf Elimination challenge. Don’t know why Grayson is back. I couldn’t stand her on her season, and she’s just as cocky and entitled now with middling skills to back it up. There were many other former contestants they could have brought back than her. Early frontrunners: Kwame (awesome), Jeremy, Carl, Philip (ugh), and Isaac. The ladies can go home one by one for all I care.
