I watched the first two episodes and I was suprises by how much I enjoyed them. Dylan Minette was easily the standout. He was very good. I also liked how almost every single performance was so relatable. I dont like the friend though who drives the car. The actor was just okay and his character is annoying and sketchy. I don’t see the Emmys going for this outside of directing which I don’t think it’ll get and maybe Kate Walsh, who does not have a big part in the first two episodes but has an amazing scene at the end of the second episode. My grades are A and B+.pulp50ParticipantJoined:Feb 13th, 2017Topics:21Posts:1717March 31, 2017 at 8:41 am #1202051589
It’s metacritic score is down to 76 now. It initially seemed to be getting a lot of acclaim but now it’s settling into just generally positive reviews instead.SashaParticipantJoined:Nov 24th, 2013Topics:15Posts:2680March 31, 2017 at 11:03 am #1202051652
I have already seen first half of the season and I really like it. And Kate Walsh is so fucking good. She’s already making my line-up and if she gets even better in second half then she’s gonna be my #3 or maybe even #2. I hope Netflix is gonna campaign hard for her. Minnette is very good as is the girl playing Hannah. God, with Riverdale and this one I’m getting back into teen shows.March 31, 2017 at 2:33 pm #1202051753
I really like this show but it is very flawed. I am on episode 6. I doubt the show gets into series. The editing is very flashy though so maybe it can get in. The title sequence is my favorite of the season so hopefully it can win there. Minette and the Hannah actress are awesome. As is Walsh who I think is the chows only realistic major contender outside of directing, which I don’t think will happen. I don’t like the Tony actor. Does anybody actually think this will be a contender? I seriously doubt it. Also, is Tony gay?March 31, 2017 at 3:03 pm #1202051821
Ajiona Alexus was also very goodMarch 31, 2017 at 3:31 pm #1202051831
7 episodes in some of these characters are unlikable and kind of annoying.March 31, 2017 at 5:13 pm #1202051872
I just watched the eighth episode and so far that would be an amazing tape for Walsh. I know Minnette won’t get a nomination but episode 7 would be a winning tape for him .March 31, 2017 at 5:16 pm #1202051873
Also I just started episode 9 and I have never seen them put a viewer discretion advised sign before the episode. I just found that really interesting.kbfr12ParticipantJoined:Oct 12th, 2012Topics:2Posts:58March 31, 2017 at 5:30 pm #1202051878
Three episodes in. I am really liking this.March 31, 2017 at 6:47 pm #1202051917
Episode 9 was one of the best episodes of the year already. So sad. But it deserves to win directing. Ironically, it isn’t even directed by McCarthy.
That being said, I’m not even sure the show deserves series but the directing was great. Unfortunately it probably won’t get any major nominations.

Walsh, Boe, Minette, Langford, D’arcy, and Alexus were very good. Almost all the other actors, especially the Alex ctor were terrible. The scene where Alex’s stomach was hurting in the gym was some cringeworthy acting.March 31, 2017 at 9:50 pm #1202051956
This show is absolutely tragic. It isn’t good for my mental health to binge it in one sitting but lets face it I’m already insane. I have one episode left. Episode 12 was so tragic. The (select good) performances are stunning. Annoyed by a lack of Kate Walsh. I need way more of her. Other than Walsh, Langford, Boe and Minnette were amazing as well. Langford is unbelievably good in this. She will definately make my cut for my personal picks. She could even be my personal winner. I havn’t decided between her, Simone Missick, Michlle Monoghan and Taylor Schilling. This show is just so much. It is for sure flawed but I still love it.March 31, 2017 at 11:02 pm #1202051983
I finally finished. What a brutal show. That finale was devastating. I was balling so many times. The season was definately flawed but was a great show at its core. What an important show. Earlier I was saying that I don’t think this can breakthrough at the Emmys and that it’ll be similar to Freaks and Geeks and maybe just get one writing or directing nomination. But then I started thinking and this show has an importance to it that could make it seem more legit in the eyes of Emmy voters. Great show. Seen two episodes and I can’t believe the Metascore this has. It’s bad — the writing is like second semester in film school with no proofreading or supervision. Might still watch a few more just because, but the show is not even guilty-pleasure engaging.April 1, 2017 at 9:03 am #1202052247

Watch it for Kate Walsh. She gets more stuff.
