I just watched Drama Actress. I agree this race is the toughest of the night, very hard to call. Chris’ point about voters either ranking Claire Danes 1st or last was interesting to me, but I’m not sure I agree. Someone on another thread said that voters will have to talk themselves out of not ranking her first, which I agree with, and some definitely will talk themselves out of it — but why would they put down to #6?

It seems to be that if a voter watches all the tapes and thinks that Claire Danes has the best tape but DOES NOT want to rank her #1, they would rank her #2 or #3, and put their personal favorite at #1. Or are they really that shrewd?

I really don’t think voters care about “cool” factor here. They let Jeff Daniels win — although that I think was a case of Cranston and Lewis getting lots of high and lots of low votes and Daniels emerging from the middle of the pack.

Nice drama actress chat — we really will be on the edge of our seats until the envelope is opened. I think Paul is right that Caplan will get a lot of #2’s because she is so different from the others. I do believe Danes may suffer from a few voters ranking her last…

Amy Poehler’s episode is not very good, so I don’t think she wins. I also LOVE Lena Dunham’s submission… Another strong point for JLD: who doesn’t want to see her give a hilarious speech again?

“Shrek and the City” is one of the funnier and mean-spirited things I’ve heard about Girls.

    Excellent!

Tough race.  5 women submitted their best.  One sadly submitted terribly and her over sensitive Network and TV Academy tried to intimidate our beloved hosts from voicing their opinions via slugfest!

I think it’s down to Marguiles, Danes, Caplan, and Washington.

Danes arguably has the best tape but her show took a beating with critics and the Academy and some savy voters may rank her near the bottom.  Marguiles seems like a safe bet.  Good episode and very well reviewed year.  Caplan and Washington could get a lot of 2nd and 3rd place voters.  Caplan because she is so different and Washington because of her star appeal and strong episode.

I’m gonna go with Marguiles.  It’s a very safe choice though.  I thought she was fine but sorta one note throughout.  I would like to see someone new win and boy would I love for it to be Caplan.

Oh come on Boomer.  I know you and Amy are buddies but come on.  Her episode and the season as a whole sorta sucked.
