Don’t hang me, I do this every year the day after the Emmys, where we spitball next year’s Emmy Awards, and who could possibly win or be nominated. Of course you don’t need to be absolutely accurate or give a definitive list of predictions (although you can if you want).

Here are some predictions I have:

    • Louie is out because the show won’t air in time for eligibility. However, we can probably expect Jeffrey Tambor and Will Forte return. I think they’re pretty safe. Next year will be when Matt Le Blanc finally gets dropped, maybe Don Cheadle as well. Unfortunately Jim Parsons will be back. I think Zach Galifianakis will take Louis C.K.’s spot, and Baskets will probably get Writing and Directing nominations as well, but no Series, which will probably go with one of the new shows.
    • Veep has that elusive Best Comedy Series win, so it will probably win another two or three years, because there doesn’t seem to be any show that can overtake it. Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also unfortunately win her fifth, because I don’t see anyone else, except maybe Sarah Jessica Parker.
    • Variety Talk Series will see a revamp. The Colbert Report is gone, and Colbert will probably get Letterman’s spot. The Daily Show isn’t going to happen under that hack Trevor Noah. The Tonight Show and Last Week Tonight will probably get in at well. Jimmy Kimmel Live will also likely get in, leaving space for two other shows. Expect Craig Ferguson’s new show Join or Die, to get in (and probably win, he’s overdue as hell and beloved and I know that many voters are regretting never giving him his due)

I think we’ll have 4 new dramas in the mix for major noms:

HBO’s Vinyl (Martin Scorsese’s new series starring Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, and Ray Romano)

HBO’s Westworld (starring Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jeffrey Wright among others)

Showtime’s Billions (Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis)

Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle

There will be a fair few empty slots with Parks & Rec, Mad Men and Nurse Jackie now finished.

Last nights winners will likely all return, if they can. Aduba is a big question mark though, because of how much less she has in the third run that is Emmy worthy compared to the previous two seasons.

I have one prediction. The most popular people will get nominated and then the most popular people will win.

Well, we can already pencil in Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Allison Janney for two more rubberstamped wins next year! Yay!

I heard some great things about Marisa Tomei in Empire + she’s an Oscar winner. I’m assuming she’ll submit in Guest Actress in a Drama.

Terrence Howard might get in for Drama Actor, depending on whether or not members of the Academy read his interview with Rolling Stone.

Gina Rodriguez is coming for wigs.

After Viola’s iconic speech i can see Kerry Washington coming back.

Taraji P. Henson will become the second black actress to win Drama Actress.

Safest bet: the tape system will be back.

This current system has already accomplished its only goal: give Jon Hamm an Emmy.
They will change back next year when they realise they’re providing us with the same winners of SAG (we know Jon Hamm will win his first SAG on January and Viola Davis will repeat).

Divorce starring SJP might not be released in time. At this point, it’s slated to premiere in summer or fall 2016. JLD will keep winning unless she goes Candie Bergen route and withdraws herself from the race.

HBO also has The Young Pope starring Jude Law, Diane Keaton and James Cromwell. All eight episodes will be directed by The Great Beauty’s Paolo Sorrentino. It’s already in production. Not sure whether it’s a drama series or limited series.

Support for Bloodline and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt fades fast after okay-but-not-great debuts. They’ll never be as buzzy again. Modern Family slips more and more amid popular vote.

Obviously there will probably be a few more new shows represented, it’s just hard to guess what. No show really feels like next year’s Drama Series winner. Call me crazy, but it may depend on who actually has a great season. Similarly, I think a few of those Comedy Actor nominees will be dropped, I just don’t know who to expect instead.
