So is no one predicting Megan Markle for Suits? I actually think a non for her could be a possibility. It’s the exact WTF name check thing the Emmy’s are known for! Will they ever get the chance to nominate a Duchess/Princess again???

Kelly Lynch in Mr. Mercedes deserves nom for Best Supporting Actress in TV Drama. She debuted in 1983 and never nommed for major awards. She played an alcoholic single mom of a serial killer, and did great job.

Also Brendan Gleeson and Robert Stanton in Mr. Mercedes deserve.

Nope. Never gonna happen. You’ve mistaken Emmys with HFPA. Those starfuckers are infamous for doing shit like that.

I guess I’m the only one who thinks THT will repeat in every category (including tech) except Series, Directing/Writing and Guest Actress.

Um….you could have just listed the categories you think it would win.

Even if they did, she wouldn’t show up, so what’s the point. :/

I think that Markle being nominated for Suits would be a blatantly obvious publicity stunt by the Television Academy that they would get some backlash for.

I wouldn’t exclude Freddie Highmore either. I could see a nom a la Amber Tamblyn for Joan of Arcadia. After all TGD is a ratings juggernaut.

Joan of Arcadia was a Drama Series nominee.
And juggernaut is hyperbole. It’s below, like, Grey’s and Empire this season.

I remember Maslany and Malek winning and I think Kirby could be next who win by passion votes.

Maslany and Malek were recognized by TCA, Sag, and Globe.

I really think we need to watch out for Judith Light in The Good Fight. It seems random, but she is reminding me of when Laurie Metcalf got three nominations.

She is getting in for Versace. No explanation needed.

Most people aren’t predicting her for Transparent, but I’m fairly confident. I feel like she will get in as a sort of back turn to Tambor. I think she’ll be the shows only above the line nomination, and I’m fairly confident.

And then we have The Good Fight. At first I didn’t consider it. One would think the voters would go with Martindale first. But I feel like her presence can pull this nomination through, similar to Metcalf for The Big Bang Theory. I have seen Riley make that comparison with other contenders, like Kyle MacLachlan for Portlandia (who I’m actually predicting), and this is a much different scenario, but I do think she is a dark horse and could realistically get three nominations.

I have been a total Venessa Kirby fan since season 1 (where she was robbed of a nomination) and I stil hope she wins. But Yvonne Strahovskis performance on The Handmaids Tale is nothing short of art a true tour de force performance that is so impressive. While Bledel, Dowd, and Wiley are are amazing Strahovski is in a league of her own. I hope Strahovski gets in this year because I would totally be happy with her winning.

Maslany and Malek were recognized by TCA, Sag, and Globe.

It was easier for them tho, they were leads, which is the easier category to get nominated in than Supporting at the Globes and combining Supporting and Lead at SAG ultimately gives Lead the advantage.

You addressed flawed reasoning with flawed reasoning.

If Louie Anderson could win, Kirby can at least be a darkhorse.

I  have some words on supporting actress:

Unlike most, I think that Ann Dowd is the best actress in the group. I don’t know if anyone here watches interviews of hers but if you do, you can see that she puts on this amazing accent as Aunt Lydia. Her lines are very idomatic, almost Shakespearean, and she can still a believable performance with such ease. The way she stresses some words is just fascinating. She does have an interesting accent in real but nothing that compares to her Aunt Lydia one. She disappears into this character so much that it’s so easy to not understand this character. She is so wrapped up in her religious beliefs and the Gileadean way that it’s hard for viewers to sympathize with her in any way. That’s to Dowd’s credit because she bathes in this character. Strahovski is excellent as well, has to do some crazy shit. She NEEDS to be nominated. Bledel is very underrated here IMO. She doesn’t have a lot of screentime but every time she is on screen, she has such a presence and delivers a very very believable and deliberate performance. I wish she had more screentime. Vanessa Kirby was so amazing in “Beryl” but I fear she will be snubbed. Lena Headey is brilliant and has to do the same things Ann Dowd has to do and she’s just above and beyond. I wish she would win. Metz and Brown probably should not be here. Metz is an amazing actress but she kinda plays Chrissy Metz and doesn’t put on this mask that others put on. I am NOT talking about her weight but just the emotions she has to coney in general  (if you know what I mean). Brown is only here because of her popularity. She tends to overact in the second season. Her performance is not very believable. Thandie Newton hasn’t impressed me in season 2 yet (I have seen 5 eps). I was shocked when people said that Akane No Mai was a good submission. She just isn’t as good as the others IMO.

Now to my fear: if THT and GOT get in multiple actors, there will be vote splitting. If Ann is up against Bledel or Strahovski or even both, there is no way she is winning. My fear is that if GOT and THT split votes respectively that someone like Metz or Brown could rise and win. And that cannot happen in a category with SO many amazing performers

^Lol, Brown or Metz isn’t happening simply because of vote-split. Relax. And Bledel is not getting nominated, so overrated. Strahovski has snatched her wig anyways, she’s earning that nom, and she’s coming for the win.
