After watching the trailer for The Looming Tower, that looks like the limited series to beat. Unless it goes Drama (the poster calls it a drama, the trailer calls it a limited series, get your shit together Hulu advertising team) I suspect Daniels will submit supporting for Godless, which makes since since his role has been described as borderline.

I thought The Looming Tower was on FX. My bad. Hulu has it as Limited Series.

So supporting actress in limited series or TV movie will be Penelope Cruz vs. Angela Lansbury?

Laura Dern shouldn’t be discounted, either. Especially if the competition is lackluster and they just throw her a consecutive Emmy like they did with Regina King.

Plus, Dern has momentum from all her projects last year, and was one of the most talked about characters on Twin Peaks. But most importantly, she has an extremely baity submission where she essentially has a 5-10 minute monologue sequence where she cries about (SPOILER….) being raped.

It’s just a question of whether voters make it all the way to Episode 16, which would be her tape. If it was just based on tape alone, it’s hard to see how such a baity monologue like that could lose.

Penelope Cruz could get name checked for a nomination, but based on reactions I don’t think she’s competitive for the win.

I think Waco could go unnoticed at the Emmys. But there’s Michael Shannon, so they might give him a nod. Anyways, I wanted to ask something else. Someone mentioned Angela Lansbury in Little Women. Is that movie or limited series? It has three episodes. And Dylan Baker is in it and the Emmys love him, so there’s another contender.

Pose is a series and it will premiere in the summer.

    Michael Shannon versus Michael Shannon!

Pose is a series and it will premiere in the summer.

I’ve seen contradicting articles, some citing it a series and some citing it as an anthology, but I didn’t realize it was premiereing in summer.

    Michael Shannon versus Michael Shannon!

And Jeff Daniels versus Jeff Daniels. And Elisabeth Moss versus Elisabeth Moss.

Official press release with no mention of anthology/limited: “FX has ordered eight episodes for season one of Pose, which is scheduled to begin production in February in New York and premiere on FX in the summer of 2018.”

There’s an upcoming HBO movie called “Notes on the Field” that’s also supposed to be released this year but I’m not sure when exactly.

I know I’ve been so over AHS since the Hotel season but ugh Evan Peters literally gives the 2nd best performance of the entire series (him, Lange in Coven and Paulson in Asylum). He’s never been the MVP of any season but he finally was one in Cult. Too bad the Emmys are so over the show (rightfully so).

If Kudrow is eligible for guest for Grace & Frankie, then I can definitely see a nomination, maybe a win.

I’m excited for Comedy Supporting Actress.

    Megan Mullally
    Laurie Metcalf
    Leslie Jones
    Kate McKinnon
    Sara Gilbert
    Judith Light
    Anna Chlumsky
    Jenifer Lewis

And any other contenders that will likely arise. Also, Comedy Lead Actress is looking fun with the return of Roseanne and Debra Messing, plus the buzz Janney will have with her Oscar nomination, and possible win.

D’Arcy Carden and Jameela Jamil from The Good Place, if the Emmys quit blackballing that show’s chances in every category.
