What 5 nominees can safely watch the Emmys from home because there is no way they are winning the Emmy?

    Drama Series: Game of Thrones
    Drama Series: Boardwalk Empire
    Drama Directing: Boardwalk Empire
    Comedy Series: 30 Rock
Comedy Series: The Big Bang Theory

eastwest: Nicole Kidman still has a shot, Imho. The slightest of shots, but still a shot. She shouldn’t stay at home. And I’m rooting for Julianne Moore.

Everybody would say “Melissa McCarthy” last year. If you’re nominee, arrive and have a great party!

This is a pretty stupid topic.

Go and enjoy the ceremony! Celebrate being a part of the TV family.

A person only gets nominated very few times (or only once for many) in their career.

Amen. And unexpected winners happen more often than not. If Kyle Chandler, Melissa McCarthy, or Jim Parsons stayed home last year, they’d be kicking themselves. Barry Pepper probably did kick himself for missing the ceremony.

Why would you name whole TV productions? The least the OP could have done is name specific people…

Yeah, everyone nominated should always attend these things…

Folks, this wasn’t an actual invitation to some people to stay home, just a list of people/shows that have real slight changes, that’s all.
    Don’t take it so seriously.

It’s not all about WINNING. If you lose you still had the honor of being nominated ( which i believe is the true prize )

After last year’s repeat-shocks – Barry Pepper, Kyle Chandler, Jim Parsons, Melissa McCarthy – I don’t think it’s wise for anyone to stay home due to “not having great chances.” But…I’ll play along…Per category.

    1. Ashley Judd/Emma Thompson (We couldn’t believe you got in either.)

    2. Michael C. Hall (Hurts to say that. Stop botching your submissions.)

    3. Glenn Close (WTH were you thinking submitting that?)

    4. Bill Hader (I’m still stunned. You got in over some stiff competition in a very coveted “Who’s gonna get that wide open 6th spot” type of nomination.)

    5. Everyone from Downton Abbey except Maggie Smith. Ironically, it’ll be the other way around.

Kidman is my personal pick in that lineup, but no one is beating Moore.

I would be heartbroken. It is byfar the most uneven performance of Kidman’s career, even though she definitely packs a punch in the opening scene. It would be one of the biggest robberies of the night, if not the biggest.

That was a terrible movie, and one of the weakest performances Kidman has ever given.

Surprise nominees happen. Though the most unlikely of winners have occured mostly in the comedy acting categories these past few years.
