With the growing number of actors, directors, writers, etc. committing themselves to cable/web series, who do you think should be the next to join the list?

Cable/web is a great place for actors/directors/writers/etc to go for great material, creative freedom and new opportunities. It is becoming more and more obvious that cable/web is becoming the biggest rival to films. Who should be the next to take part?

Great thread idea. I’d like to see Steven Spielberg direct a pilot episode of a TV show.

I’d like Netflix to let David Lynch do whatever he wants with a show again.

I’d love to see what Tarantino would do with his own series. I know he’s written/directed for CSI and directed an episode of E.R., but with the way he pays homage to genres as well as his ‘Chapter’/segment/vignette style of storytelling, he could do some really interesting things with an open-ended series.

As for acting, I’d like to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt return to series TV and headline a show.

I would love to see Marcia Cross and/or Felicity Huffman in a Showtime dramedy.

I was just thinking about this last night and YES. 1000 times yes. She was actually fantastic on Friends and I haven’t seen her in a film that comes close.

Unfortunately I bet she probably would consider returning to TV as a “step down” or sign of defeat.

I hadn’t even considered Gary Oldman. He’d be lovely to see.

Sam Rockwell would be interesting to see in a series, either as a lead or a really prominent supporting character.

While it was perhaps not a groundbreaking show in itself, I thought that Shark was a pretty entertaining vehicle for James Woods, so I would love to see him come back as to television, especially in a role that allowed him to play against type as someone more sympathetic than the majority of his film characters.

For writers/directors, Richard Linklater could be an someone to watch out for, at least for the characters that he would bring.

Helen Hunt.    I could really see her doing well as the headliner or even in the supporting cast of an HBO show, or a show similar to “The Good Wife” on broadcast.
