    Porter Can’t be bad!

Ahaha hopefully it’s just like Paulson in the second half of Roanoke where at first everyone was like “is she actually doing this badly” but then realised she was just sending up the whole thing and revelling in the camp.

FX put the fourth episode online Friday and it was a big step up for me. The first three episodes were mostly about Sarah Paulson, but she is only a cameo in this one and the episode is instead all about Evan Peters. There are shades of Leonardo DiCaprio in the intensity that Peters brings to showing his character’s origins of sorts as a cult leader. It was nice to take a break from the craziness of Paulson’s character and also to take a break from the show trying to surprise; as could be expected by its “11/9” title, this one is more about filling in blanks and explaining. It is also the best showcase of the first four episodes for Billy Eichner, Emma Roberts and Adina Porter, while regulars Allison Pill, Billie Lourd and Cheyenne Jackson take a backseat with Paulson. I was wrong about Porter’s role not being expanded; hard to tell if Porter is playing campy or if she is just bad. Still no Lena Dunham, Frances Conroy or Mare Winningham.

What about Colton Haynes and Leslie Grossman?

Haynes is not in the fourth episode and Grossman has more to do in the previous two.

Not saying she’ll break back in by any stretch, but Paulson really is being raved for this:

I mean, her category was unusually crowded this year – I think it’s fairly unprecedented for two Emmy favorites to have a pair of female leads each. I think given her popularity she stands a chance depending on how the rest of the category shakes out.

But wasn’t Paulson competing in supporting this year?

Who are (by the moment) the MVPs of the season?

Yes, sorry, when I said “her category,” I meant lead actress which she will presumably be competing in in 2018. With her reduced role this past season and abundance of other, better-received projects I never really expected her to get the supporting nod for Roanoke.

As far as I know these will be the contenders this year:

Penelope Cruz – The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story
    Hilary Swank – Trust
    Michelle Dockery – Godless
Elisabeth Moss – Top of the Lake: China Girl
Sarah Paulson – American Horror Story: Cult
Edie Falco – Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders
    Sarah Gadon – Alias Grace
    Jessica Biel – The Sinner
Sharon Stone – Mosaic (not sure if she is a lead)
    Joanne Froggatt – Liar
Anna Friel – The Girlfriend Experience
Carmen Ejogo – The Girlfriend Experience
Louisa Krause – The Girlfriend Experience

So, I think Paulson is safe this year.

More like scare of watching a serial liar, ugly, fat, bad actress sexual predator

These are now relevant grounds to hate someone?

Says more about you than it does about her.

Moss is in, Cruz is in, Swank is probably in. I think Paulson gets in comfortably. @riley Which, if any, supporting player has the best chance of getting in at the Emmys from what you’ve seen?

I would say that Sarah Paulson is giving one of most dedicated—not necessarily best—performances on television right now. I would compare Justin Theroux in The Leftovers, Will Forte in The Last Man on Earth and Andy Daly in Review. I hope that Evan Peters goes supporting, but it sounds like he is going lead. Billy Eichner is also memorable in a smaller role that is largely comedic. It is ridiculous that his character is a personal trainer though, particularly after his shirtless shot in the fourth episode. Peters is much more buff this time around—those arms!

I am generally of the opinion that actors in the limited races should go lead, if they can. When the year is not as strong as this one, it will  be hard for Academy to find 12 leads from 12 high profile longform program in the eligible year. They can’t check perennial nominees in shows they once watched like they do in Drama/Comedy either. Even in a year like this where we had double leads everywhere, I’ve struggled to find a 6th lead actress to put in my predictions and I am not entirely sure who would have been strong enough for the 7th and 8th slots(in the case of a tie).

Says more about you than it does about her.

She is a serial liar, that’s a fact
She is a sexual predator, that’s a fact
She is a bad actress, that’s may be subjective
She is fat, that’s a fact
She is ugly, that’s a fact and not only in the physical sense, a woman who said that she hope to murder a child is an ugly person.

Denying facts because you like “an artist” says more about you and your superficiality.
