Much better critical reception than I’d be expecting, the Indiewire review really was worst and first:
Rotten Tomatoes: 71
Not too bad at all given the controversial choice of material. I wonder if they’ve been helped by FX releasing the 4th episode as well before the bulk of reviews were released?September 6, 2017 at 5:15 am #1202205051
Ok so this was weird. Yet, I liked it so what that says about me I don’t know lol. Peters owned that episode and Paulson was great as usual but Lorde was great too. I think the shrink is working with Peters and Billie Lorde to frame Ally. Also, never going near an ice cream truck again 🙂 My grade: ASeptember 6, 2017 at 7:39 am #1202205232
This was decent. Not nearly scary enough but still fairly riveting all the same. Peters is a fucking revelation in the role, each of his scenes an utter thrill due to his completely unpredictable performance. I liked the other stuff too, although initially I found Paulson’s storyline a little irritating but thanks to her performance it held together and the ending of the episode did finally get me interested in it. If the show can just up the thrills (there’s definitely a problem of Paulson seeing too many things before we see them) then I have no doubt this could be a great season.

I like the season premiere. It’s really very different from the previous seasons since it is grounded. Plus, I got scared a bit and I kinda made a bad decision of watching it before I sleep.September 6, 2017 at 11:08 am #1202205374
Disappointing. The quality of this show has gone down considerably. Evan Peters was the only reason to watch. As much as I love Sarah Paulson, her character was insufferable. I don’t think I can go an entire season of watching her squeal.September 6, 2017 at 2:13 pm #1202205509
The episode is amazing, I really liked it a lot. Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Billie Lourde are really good.September 13, 2017 at 4:16 am #1202211616
This week’s episode was marginally better than last week’s. The thrills were more intense, largely due to them not necessarily taking place in Paulson’s mind, and the storyline with the whole immigration angle taking shape was more interesting. Paulson was electrifying I have to say- where last week her character became occasionally grating, this week she was given a lot more basis for concern as as such became far more worthy of investing so much focus. Predictable as the ending was, it provides a good reason to look forward to tuning in next week.

Billy Eichner and Leslie Grossman were so funny, I liked them a lot.September 13, 2017 at 9:00 pm #1202212244
Billy Eichner playing a macho straight guy made this worth watching.September 13, 2017 at 9:21 pm #1202212254
I gave up half way through the premiere. I couldn’t stand Sarah Paulson in this.
But damn it, I want to watch Leslie Grossman…September 14, 2017 at 8:26 am #1202212601
Sarah Paulsons character is the worst ….
Allison Pill is bad for sure ..
Billy and Leslie are red herrings
Lourde – is great but kinda feels like Channel no2 still
Peters is great
Cheyenne is bad also
