Companion series to “American Horror Story” – do you think it’ll work?
FX and Ryan Murphy are expanding the American Horror Story franchise with another anthology series, this time focused on some of the biggest true crime stories ever. Fittingly, the new series, American Crime Story, is launching with one of the most famous cases in the past few decades: the murder trial of O.J. Simpson. FX has given a 10-episode, straight-to-series order to American Crime Story: The People Vs. O.J. Simpson.

Ryan Murphy taking on OJ Simpson in new FX anothology series: “American Crime Story”
I hope not.October 7, 2014 at 10:05 am #335850
This has been done so much! I don’t think there’s a problem with the concept but this particular case – there’s nothing left to do.October 7, 2014 at 10:22 am #335851
Don’t mind the concept, totally uninterested in the case. Not that I was expecting anything interesting and sophiscated from Ryan Murphy.October 7, 2014 at 10:32 am #335852
Let me stand in the minority who is actually slightly excited for this. Yes, this is well-trod material. Yes, there are tons of crime shows already out there. But I don’t think this will just be a big cash grab, they actually want to tell this story in an interesting way.
I don’t like the words “companion series” though. I have a lot of trouble believing this will be in any way connected to AHS. If a similarity in title is the only thing in common, then it can hardly be a companion piece.

Chadwick Boseman go get that Emmy. As for Nicole I think Amber Heard would be perfect.October 7, 2014 at 11:17 am #335855
At what point is Hollywood going to stop giving work to this man? He’s the absolute worst. I think the idea, if executed well could be great but have absolutely zero faith in Murphy at the helm.October 7, 2014 at 11:31 am #335856
Dramatizing this particular saga is very tacky. It should be a documentary series, if it must exist at all.October 7, 2014 at 12:00 pm #335857
I understand the hate for Ryan Murphy, but this sounds pretty cool. I’d rather see this start tomorrow than Freak Show.October 7, 2014 at 1:55 pm #335858
Another FX “miniseries”. PassOctober 7, 2014 at 4:00 pm #335859
Ugh. No. This idea just sounds like a tranwreck.October 7, 2014 at 4:46 pm #335860
I think many people are judging him because his shows always start to fade after the first season, but what you guys are forgetting is that we get at least one good season! ha.October 7, 2014 at 7:15 pm #335861
Eh… If it were anyone else, quite literally anyone else–Uwe Boll could be helming this, and that would be much more exciting–then maybe I would get the appeal, but I’m not interested in another campy/preachy/clunky hot mess from Mr. Murphy. Clearly, I am not alone in this. Now, I hope I’m wrong, and that this is great, because I’ll take good television from a guy with a diminishing reputation any day.
