The combined odds have Amy Schumer in eighth place for Comedy Actress for her self-titled variety show.
However, we editors are predicting she will get in and have her in the fifth slot.
What do you think?July 9, 2015 at 3:23 am #352769
No. These are Emmys we’re talking about not some star-buzz-fucking ‘Critics’ Choice Awards.July 9, 2015 at 8:56 am #352770
I think she will get in. Absolute perfect timing for her right now, with her Comedy Central series ending its season and her new movie debuting next week.July 9, 2015 at 11:09 am #352772
Yes, She’s squarely been in my lead actress comedy predictions for a long time.July 9, 2015 at 12:15 pm #352773
I wonder if she’ll win if nominated… de-throning JLD in the process.July 9, 2015 at 12:40 pm #352774
My perfect batch of nominees are…
1. Lisa Kudrow, The Comeback
2. Constance Wu, Fresh Off the Boat
3. Gina Rodriguez, Jane the Virgin
4. Amy Poehler, Parks & Recreation
5. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep
6. Ellie Kemper, Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt
7. Tracee Ellis Ross, Blackish
8. Lily Tomlin, Grace and Frankie
I love Schumer, but I just can’t include her in my personal preferences. It has nothing to do with her, but a sketch performance should be in a different category. I say the same thing about SNL and Portlandia.
Realistically, however, I think if anyone is going to dethrone JLD, it will be Amy Schumer. As much as I would love it to be Kudrow or Wu – who may not even get the nom – I think it would be Schumer.July 10, 2015 at 6:26 pm #352775
Yes. I have her in 6th now. She is getting in.July 10, 2015 at 10:14 pm #352776
Yes, Amy Schumer will get in, she’s the it girl of the moment and it seems inevitable. Also, people seem to forget that there is a precedence with Sarah Silverman getting in without that nomination in the recent past I wouldn’t feel comfortable making that prediction. Now as far as winning, I’m not sure we’ll need to see what the gross of “Trainwreck” is and what she submits. As far as episodes are she shouldn’t go with the one that features Dreyfus in “Last Fuckable Day” she doesn’t need to do her competition any favors.July 11, 2015 at 12:48 am #352777
It is a toss-up. I think that it is mostly dependent on whether Grace and Frankie ends up being a thing. People love to mention Trainwreck, but it is still not out and voting ended weeks ago, so that could not have helped her. Inside Amy Schumer only has one writing nomination under its belt and voters did not get any screener DVDs, so all of the online buzz might just be exactly that.
