What are the best series finale episode titles? I’ve always felt that the “Lost” finale title — “The End” — was a bit of a cop-out. What are some goodies?

Cougar Town – Mary Jane’s Last Dance
Community – Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television
Parks & Rec – One Last Ride

come to my mind, I loved all these episodes too.

I don’t like the names like, Bye, Finale, End, Au Revoir etc.

    The Shield, “Family Meeting”
    The Wire, “-30-“
    Deadwood, “Tell Him Something Pretty”
Rome, “De Patre Vostro (About Your Father)”
    Oz, “Exeunt Omnes”
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, “What You Leave Behind”

I always thought “Best Served Cold” would make a great series finale title.

“Person to Person” from Mad Men comes instantly to mind. It captures the tone of the show really well.

Felina from breaking bad is such a brilliantly layered title, considering how it was designed to be an anagram of finale, but also be a combination of elemental symbols Fe-Li-Na, primary elements in Blood, Meth and Sweat.

I have to disagree with the idea that episode titles that say goodbye, or something of that nature aren’t as good. There’s the classic Goodbye, Farewell and Amen from M*A*S*H, and the wonderfully appropriate Goodnight, Seattle from Frasier. It all depends on the series.

I like titles that put emphasis on an arc or an element that was prominent throughout the entire series, like:

    30 Rock – Last Lunch
Damages – But You Don’t Do That Anymore
    Enlightened – Agent of Change
Parenthood – May God Bless and Keep You Always
Raising Hope – The Father Daughter Dance
Six Feet Under – Everyone’s Waiting
The Neighbors – There Goes the Neighbor’s Hood
The Newsroom – What Kind of Day Has It Been
United States of Tara – The Good Parts

Desperate Housewives – “Finishing the Hat”

I never really watched the series, but their nod to Stephen Sondheim in every episode title is really awesome for a theatre fan, and they chose a very strong one for the finale!

I quite like the one from Dexter, probably the best thing about the finale haha: “Remember the Monsters?”

Six Feet Under: “everyone’s waiting”. Beautiful.

“Everyone’s Waiting” is probably the one that gives the most impact and sense of dread one can sense, it is just fantastic.

Terrible. It should have been something office-related like “Clocking Out.”

One of my faves of all time is The X-Files’ “The Truth.” For a show whose tagline was “The Truth is Out There,” they picked a perfect title.
