Also, One thing that bugged me about this episode was that there was a blatant audio mess up. When junior was walking out of the door with his girlfriend he said “So tell me about this hot tub of yours”, but it was obvious that he wasn’t actually sying it because even though it was shot from behind you could see that his head wasn’t moving. So lazy.October 25, 2017 at 7:52 pm #1202248259
Jenifer Lewis deserves to be nominated and we need to get SNL out of the Supporting Actress/Actor category.October 26, 2017 at 6:42 am #1202248661
Who wants to watch people play Monopoly for a half-hour? What a clunker of an episode. And especially disappointing after those great showcases for Ross and Lewis. Hopefully they’ll return to form next week. And Anderson would be better off submitting Juneteenth.January 3, 2018 at 12:40 pm #1202454671
To my surpise, Grown-ish has a decent 71 on Metacritic. I don’t expect much Emmy love, but if Anderson and Ross guest, would they have a shot at getting nominated. Has an actor been nominated simultaneously for staring as the same character on there show and on their spinoff as a guest?January 4, 2018 at 12:26 pm #1202455771
I was quietly looking forward to it…just watched the pilot and it’s like top 3 worst I’ve ever seen. The character introduction info dump is kindergarten level writing I can’t believe Kenya himself wrote that. About to watch ep. 2 and I’ll prolly like it better because my expectations are now zero.
I don’t mind the 4th wall breaking as they had to do something to make her interesting because, let’s be honest, she has no business getting a spin-off. They couldn’t keep her at home on black-ish and they couldn’t just write her out either.January 7, 2018 at 12:27 am #1202458496
The pilot of Grown-ish was terrible. The second episode was much better. The editing was atrocious. The writing was bad, but much better on the second episode. Shahidi is surprisingly good in the lead role.February 11, 2018 at 2:52 pm #1202491884
I’m actually loving grown-ish right now. There are so many bad aspects to it but I can’t stop watching. Emily Arlook is the easy MVP.February 13, 2018 at 5:39 am #1202493045
Who would’ve thought I would’ve liked Grownish as much as I do. But, I watched all of the episodes that’ve aired so far, and it’s so much better than I would’ve anticpated. Shahidi is very good. Her whole vibe is very reminiscent than that of Lisa Bonet’s Denise Huxtable’s, from back in the day, but Shahidi does it with a better flair, in my opinion.
