So I just finished up this season of BoJack Horseman. Sure I liked the series before, but this season made me realize that this is a truly special show. Outside of the abortion episode, all of the episodes are pretty great. The voice acting is amazing, the satire is brilliant and the dramatic moments hit really hard, especially one moment that I won’t spoil that made me cry. Only one other cartoon show made me cry and that is The Simpsons.
Honestly, the Emmys need to recognize it this year because it’s really amazing.
What did you think of the most recent season of BoJack Horseman?
Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.
I said this back when season one aired – this is the best show on TV. Has been for three years. It’s a shame it is animated and on Netflix so it won’t get Emmy love but it is worthy of a best comedy or drama nomination. It’s truly ambitious and groundbreaking in a time when everyone seems to be trying to do both but failing and this show does it so organically and honestly it makes you forget you’re watching an animated show about anthropomorphic animals. This season was especially devastating but the characterization was top notch as were the excellent jokes baked in throughout.
