Michael C. Hall shouldn’t consider anything but “My Bad.” He could beat Jon Hamm with that tape.

Apparently, Mireille Enos is considering submitting the pilot, but she would be crazy not to submit “Missing.” She has no impact or range in the pilot, but in “Missing” she gets to breakdown and cry, lash out at street punks, and she dominates the episode with her co-star Joel Kinnaman. A no-brainer that one.

I was going to say I was surprised “Treme” didn’t submit their season finale, but their season finale aired after ballots were due, and even hanging episodes don’t qualify after that. A shame, since it was their best episode of the season.

If those are the pairings then Modern Family’s first tape (Old Wagon and Someone to Watch over Lily) is beatable, but the other two are strong. Raising Hope submitted beautifully as did The Big C. Nurse Jackie submitted badly.

I completely agree. He can definately win with that episode.

I’m not a big fan of “Louie‘s” submissions overall. “Poker/Divorce,” “Bully,” “God,” and “Night Out” are great choices, but I don’t think “Pilot” or “Dr. Ben/Nick” are among last season’s best. I think the pilot was actually pretty poor. One of those should have been replaced by “Double Date/Mom.”

Community” did alright. But not to submit “Critical Film Studies” is madness. “Cooperative Caligraphy” and “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” are great choices. “Conspiracy Theories” and “Human Memory” are pretty good too. Don’t remember “Mixology” too well, but surely “Critical Film” belonged among their six.

She did an interview w/TVLine a while back and, like apparently w/most actors, she thought that she wouldn’t be able to submit “Missing” b/c of the cut off. I think her people informed her of The Sopranos rule, so now she’s is considering that.

But I agree. Even though for me, I wouldn’t nominate her, “Missing” should be her tape.

Yeah, I was watching Missing and thinking it was written specifically to be an Emmy submission for her.

Mixology was one of my favorite Community episodes this season.  I didn’t think much of Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking in comparison to the rest of the season, and would happily replace it with Critical Film Studies or any of a handful of other episodes.

Even though I am not predicting it, mainly b/c of my bias for both women, if Connie Britton is not nominated again (which is possible) I see Mireille Enos being nominated in her place.

I keep on thinking of the point either Boomer or someone else made, AMC first lead actress helmed show.

Though if that scenario were to happen of my predix mirroring the actual nominations, I would love it if Connie wasn’t nominated, for Emmy Rossum from Shameless to take her place.

I really hope that Plimpton would choose ‘Say Cheese’. I loved ‘Dream Hoarders’ but ‘Say Cheese’ could be called “The Virginia Chance Comedy 1/2 Hour”. She is hilarious, crazy, and really touching as well.

Agree that if Enos picks anything other than ‘Missing’ it will be a misstep. She could ACTUALLY win with that episode.

Katey Sagal should pick ‘Home’ over ‘So’ for sure.

‘My Bad’ is even better than Hall’s submission last year.

I really wish Ty Burrell would consider ‘Someone To Watch Over Lily’ as his tape. He’s still as funny as ever and probably for the first time on the series, showed a bit of an emotional side too.

SOMEONE is bound to screw up their submission. I wonder who it will be this year…..

I think Good Cop Bad Dog will be a great submission for Ty Burrell as long as any of his costars are nominated with him and submit any other episode.  The best thing about it is that he plays against the character’s typical nature, and that would be lost without any contrast.  But since it’s almost guaranteed that someone else will submit a different performance of his, I think it’s a good choice.  (I don’t remember him in Someone to Watch Over Lily.)

I think people are discounting Michael C. Hall because he didn’t win for such a great season, and this past season wasn’t as good. But in terms of submission tapes, I don’t think Hall has had a better chance. In “My Bad,” he’s mostly the same stoic, emotionless self, but he gets to show dimension, struggling with his inability to mourn his wife properly, and then finally having a huge emotional breakdown and murdering a man out of anger. That episode aired three weeks after “The Suitcase,” and even with “The Suitcase” fresh in my mind, I watched “My Bad” and thought, “That looks like an Emmy winner to me.”

I think Hall could be this year’s Sedgwick: Actor overdue an Emmy, on a show that is perhaps past its prime, someone else has all the buzz, but with a powerful submission that could make all the difference.

I had previously discounted the idea of Boardwalk Empire being able to win this year, but after looking at its tapes, I think it now has a chance.  It is the “HBO is back” show and, unfortunately, that will probably get it a” few votes.  Now it has two great sets of tapes with “Boardwalk Empire” & “Anastasia” and “Paris Green” & “Return to Normalcy”.  Its third set is not as good, but the two definitely put it into the hunt for the Emmy.  I still rank it third (behind The Good Wife and Mad Men), but I wouldn’t be surprised if any of the three win (but I don’t watch The Good Wife so I don’t know if the tapes they chose are any good).

I also agree with everyone saying Enos has to submit “Missing”.  I wasn’t completely sold on her performance in the pilot so that would be a poor choice.
