Surprised this doesn’t have a thread yet.
Premiere Date: Sep 17, 2013
With 30 reviews so far on MC it’s score is 70 and 91% on Tomatometer.
Cast includes: Andre Braugher, Andy Samberg and Terry Crews .

I was also surprised it didn’t have a thread, I didn’t want to create one because I can’t be one of those people who come in week after week updating it with new episode info. I didn’t once and I can’t even remember for what show it was.
I really liked this Pilot. It was very good and looks like it has a lot of potential. It’s not every day that you can say that a cast this big works 100% straight from the Pilot, but it did. Samberg was great (although some people might get tired of his Sambergness quickly).
Braugher was of course great and will surely have people talking about automatic Supporting Actor consideration, specially since people had him locked for nominations last year for the obviously lame and cancelled Last Resort and even picked winning tapes.
I read reviews saying that the Pilot didn’t have that many laughs in it but it was still good, those reviews were right.
This will be one of those I’ll just keep watching and watching without a doubt even if it never gets to be great thanks to the cast, like Mindy Project for example.September 19, 2013 at 5:34 am #299111
I thought this was…. okay. The ratings were about on par with New Girl so there’s no reason to think this won’t last for a bit, at least at this time.
There’s definitely a lot of room for growth but they need to at least tone down the “Andy Samberg-ness” (I like that from above) of his character. It was a bit much.
I’ll watch a couple more…September 19, 2013 at 5:53 am #299112
I thought this was a pretty damn good pilot, but it’s from Michael Schur, so I wasn’t surprised. I liked all the character introductions. The ensemble cast shows a lot of potential. I’ll be sticking with this one.September 19, 2013 at 6:55 am #299113
It was alright. Saying that I am giving it one more episode to wow me before I give up on it.September 19, 2013 at 7:59 am #299114
I liked this a lot and will definitely be continuing to watch it.September 19, 2013 at 9:01 am #299115
I also liked this, while Samberg is not the best actor out there, he was decent here and so was the rest of the cast. I’m in for at least half of the season.September 19, 2013 at 9:02 am #299116
I really enjoyed it and it’s the only good pilot I’ve seen so far. Will DVR weekly due to Agents of SHIELDSeptember 19, 2013 at 11:11 am #299117
Meh, I did not really laugh, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt since it is a pilot and I like the people involved. I will probably watch until the first repeat or preemption, then stop.
This seems like such an easy role for Andre Braugher.September 19, 2013 at 11:57 am #299118
I liked this show a lot. I thought the characters were well drawn and the cast chemistry was perfect.
I also liked that Braugher’s character was not cartoonishly strict and outsmarted by Samberg’s detective and that, in fact, he did have the upper hand.
So far, with Trophy Wife, my fave pilot of the season.September 19, 2013 at 12:46 pm #299119
This started stronger and doesn’t have the gimmicky format of Parks that eventually became just an excuse for talking heads with total disregard for the “concept” behind it.
I also thought both writing and cast started much stronger than Parks did.
I liked the jokes, laughed several times (none out loud, but good enough for me to get invested in this). Braugher is of course excellent, but so is Samberg, Crews and Peretti. I appreaciate they are trying to actually do somethign with the crime stories, it hasn’t quite fully clicked in execution, but it’s already put to good use. It like the goofy, fun nature of this show. I have seen a reviewer compare this to the Beastie Boys video of Sabotage, and I do think there’s some of that tone here, and it’s enough for me to give this one a shot over the next few weeks. Probably best comedy pilot of the year as well.September 19, 2013 at 2:05 pm #299120
Interesting comparison- I agree that this started less gimmicky than Parks and Rec, but I think that Parks transcended its premise and has developed into one of the better, more mature comedies on air.
I actually think that if they were on the same network, a “B99” and “Parks” combo would be a great and compatible programming block.September 19, 2013 at 2:21 pm #299121
i thought it was quite similar to Parks and Rec, which is probably why I liked it. Each character, roughly speaking of course, seems to have a direct counterpart to a Parks and Rec chararacter.September 19, 2013 at 2:22 pm #299122
I’ve been really excited for this series since the series pick-up was announced, but was initially disappointed by the previews.
Fortunately, I thorougly enjoyed the pilot! I think the cast is great, and the characters already feel well-established. I am a huge fan of Andre Braugher, and I look forward to his venture into comedy; it should be interesting to see how the writers deal with the twist for his character, too.
I haven’t been a big fan of Andy Samberg in the past, but I thought he was charming and is a strong lead for this ensemble.
Very promising start! Definitely adding this to my season roster!

Yeah, that’s why I’m hoping the next few episodes diversify the characters. Don’t get me wrong I love Parks and Rec, but I want this show to be something different and not P&R with a different setting
