Jane the Virgin I think deserves a lot more attention then it’s getting. Can it be the 7th nominee this year and surprise everybody?March 29, 2015 at 1:13 pm #344997
If it was on ABC like “Ugly Betty” then I would say yes but a show as niche as this one on the CW, it doesn’t seem that likely.March 29, 2015 at 1:34 pm #344998
It stands an outside chance in a “anything can happen” kinda way but i’m leaning towards no. Personally id give it a nomination and probably a couple others but at the moment id say its best chance is obviously gina rodriguez, and even that im tempted to call unlikely.March 29, 2015 at 3:28 pm #344999
Voters are not even going to watch the show. I will be shocked if Gina Rodriguez manages to get into the crowded lead actress race. Ugly Betty had a huge following at the beginning. Not only were critics and audiences talking about the breakout star America Ferrera but everyone was raving over Vanessa Williams. Jane the Virgin has critical appeal (although not as much as other shows) but it also has very low ratings that are not increasing because of the critical appeal.March 29, 2015 at 4:16 pm #345000
Fuck no! Jane the Virgin is a stupid and annoying show. I would be shocked beyond belief if it did get it.March 29, 2015 at 4:39 pm #345001
No. It’s the wrong year. Too many contenders and confusion and too much going on. It’s got a better shot in Actress which is still something of a longshot. Series? Just no.March 29, 2015 at 5:28 pm #345002
Since is actually one of the very few comedy on the air it shouldn’t have any problem. and how is ok that Amazon have more chances to get in to comedy series than the CW?March 29, 2015 at 5:43 pm #345003
Hell no!March 29, 2015 at 6:20 pm #345004

Because Amazon has a good showMarch 29, 2015 at 7:57 pm #345005
Can “Jane” surprise? Sure! But unlikely. Still, if an obnoxiously crappy show like “Kimmy Schmidt” stands even the slimmest of chances, or people consider a boringly dramatic show like “Transparent” a lock then anything stands a chance of surprising – and I’m really hoping that’s “Shameless” over anything.March 29, 2015 at 9:53 pm #345006
Even though I voted “of course not”, it is not quite outside the realm of possibility. Yes, it is the CW, but the CW has never been competitive like this. It was on the AFI list, was nominated for series by the Globes in addition to winning actress and by the time that the Emmys roll around, it will probably have been nominated for three TCA Awards (comedy, individual, new program) and two Critics’ Choice Television Awards (comedy, actress). That is actually a lot of precursors, but it unfortunately missed at WGA, which would have indicated industry support.March 29, 2015 at 10:22 pm #345007
Yeah, pretty much. I wouldn’t be baffled if it happens because there’s a reasoning behind the choice, but at the same time there’s no reason to expect or predict it amid the contenders we have now.
