Let’s face it. Parsons has won 3 out of the last 4 years. The only time he took a dive recently was when he got upset by that wily Jon Cryer. Everybody in his category he’s beaten in the past — except for Ricky Gervais and Wm. H. Macy. Some of you may think Macy can pull this off, but not me — I’m totally underwhelmed by his episode submission.

Does Jim Parsons just happen to be bullet-proof like Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

Ricky’s the fascinating wild card here. He’s pulled off a jawdropper in this race in the past and this time he’s got a DYNAMITE episode that reduces all viewers to puddles of tears unless they have a brick in their chest where their heart should be.

Gervais is so winning. Jon Cryer won in 2012 for having an incredibly rangey, empathetic episode, and Gervais will win for the exact same reason.

Anyone can beat out Parsons this year. I’m usually an advocate for Parsons and The Big Bang Theory, but honestly, he just picked the wrong damn tape.

^ I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as people are saying it is. I think it’s just that it’s the same old Sheldon business in the episode that’s maybe resulting in Parsons fatigue (this may happen with JLD in the next year or two)… The book/bed scene is very funny and sometimes all it takes is one moment to win a trophy; however, I cannot think of any voter not checking Gervais’s name as No. 1 after seeing that last tear jerking scene.

If anyone is going to beat Parsons, I think it would be Macy. Gervais, who I normally love, is actually quite annoying on the show. I really don’t think it is a very good performance compared to what I know Gervais is capable of. Parsons is just really good and really funny in any episode so that’s why I think he will probably win again. Macy would win for an over due for love for Shameless probably but performance wise, it may not be his funniest episode but he has a powerful speech at the end. But I’m gonna play it safe and say Parsons is winning again.

Because winning Lead Actor Comedy should be about your abiliy to reduce people to tears?  I’m confused.

Frankly, I thought he would submit, “The Thanksgiving Decoupling” which not only was the best Parsons performance in the entire season, but it also had him drunk, and drunk Sheldon episodes have made him win twice before. I agree that Parsons fatigue may be setting in, since the show is renewed for three more years, I do not see him winning again until the finale season where they could give them the notorious Emmy “goodbye hug” as I call it. The episode he submitted was kinda forgettable, as I don’t even remember what happened in the episode. I never saw Derek so I would not know how Gervais is, but I’m taking your word for it.

No but if you can combine that with a very funny and sympathetic character then you’re on a roll to win.

“The Thanksgiving Decoupling” would have made it a really tight race.

Gervais is fantastic in his ep, so I think he wins quite easily.

Just ask Steve Carell and Alec Baldwin.

    My answer is YES.

I like Derek, as a show, but I hate his character. I think the writing is excellent, and does him a lot of favours. That being said, I think he can definitely win, as long as they put a lot of weight in the submissions. It’s obvious that more voters will have watched the full season of TBBT, or at least the six series episodes, where they may only watch one episode of Derek. It’s a good episode to watch, but it’s also not as funny. Despite all that, I think Gervais wins it.

Jim Parsons is overrated. I hope he doesn’t win.

It all comes down to this:

Ricky Gervais – Some British guy has got to win; Excuse me? Oh, sorry! Gervais is awesome and annoying, which is Emmy material
Jim Parsons – Annoying but yet the funniest member of Big Bang Cast
Louis C.K. – He has won an Emmy for writing, no win
Don Chealde – Not going racist, but the Emmys will be #2 at most buzzed awards if he wins
William Macy – Hurry up already and give this guy an Emmy
Matt LeBlanc – Oh, I meant him

This is by far one of the hardest Emmy year ever.

Modern Family is neck to neck with two other shows (according to people).

Acting, lots of favors for repeating. But new ones or old ones may spoil.

All that matters, is the people has gots to actually watch tapes.
