When Rosie O’Donnell launched her daytime Talk show in the 90’s, she won Outstanding Talk Show and Host every year it was on the air. Her new Primetime show just debuted, and I have to say, I really liked it. It reminded me of the Rosie that we saw in the 90’s and early 00’s (or pre-The View era), and she was really good.
It airs at 8 pm, so it is technically not eligible for a Daytime Emmy. So, will her name recognition from the Daytime Emmy’s be able to carry her to a nomination/win at the upcoming Primetime Emmy’s?
Who else watched her new show? What did you think?
I didn’t manage to catch the premiere, but are you able to give a brief synopsis of the first show? Who were the guests?
I forgot to watch, but Russell Brand was Rosie’s first guest. It’s interesting to ponder whether she or Oprah (with “Oprah’s Life Class”) will be Primetime nominees in the VMC Series category. The only show with a minor shot at unseating “The Daily Show” is “The Colbert Report,” but I guess Rosie could get in there as a nominee if there is some critical support. “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and “Conan” are goofy, silly shows, so there is precedent if Rosie’s show doesn’t go serious or political.
It aired at 7/ 6 central. Is that not daytime consideration?
Yes it is. I forgot that it aired at 7. I watched it on my DVR at 8, so there is where I got the confusion.
I watched her premiere and it really does show her Originality as in her first talk show. Multi Awards and so much more. She is in her true element and I thought it went well. I have always liked Rosie O’Donnell and I will raise my glass and toast her to many years of great work with her new show. Welcome Back Rosie.
