I’ve been looking through the nominees, and I’ve noticed that (I think) many people are misplaced:

-Alison Janney in Supporting Actress when she is a lead
-Alison Tolman in Mini/Movie Supporting Actress when her character (along with Lester) is the main character in the series
-True Detective as a drama rather than a Miniseries
-Joan Cusak as a guest actress when she is clearly apart of the shows main cast

    Did I miss anyone else?

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

It’s weird that the showrunner of Shameless hasn’t bumped Joan Cusak to a regular but it isn’t true fraud because she is in the recurring guest cast. Same goes with Uzo, Laverne, and Natasha for Orange but they all were bumped up to lead this season. I agree True Detective totally 100% should be in mini series. The Emmys need to have some sort of veto power on stuff like that. Tolman is supporting. It was Freeman and Thorton’s show with Tolman definitly as supporting. Janney is debateable

Am I the only one who saw Thorton’s role on Fargo more of a supporting role?

Laverne is still credited as a guest star and will be in season 3

I would classify him as supporting, but he could easily pass for both.

We have one through this over and over.

Orange Is The New Black is a freaking Drama

    Silicon Valley
    is not even funny

    True Detective
    is Drama

    Breaking Bad
is going unnoticed, but it had only eight episodes for their season 5 second half, but everyone is on True Detective’s nut about having only eight episodes

Allison Janey appears in every episode of Mom and if calculated, is just like ten minutes behind the camera-time of her co-star

But no fraud, and I mean it, NO FRAUD will defeat the fraud that is the nomination of Ellen Burstyn for Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-Series or TV Film for her role as Lover #3 on Mrs. Harris.

I don’t think Janney’s screentime should be the deciding factor on whether she is lead or supporting. She is clearly supporting. If you were to describe the show Mom you would put together some sort of narrative surrounding Farris’s character. Janney is not in her own show but instead her character would be described in relation to Farris. If you were to use the logic of screentime than someone could make the argument that Hale or Chlumsky are also leads of Veep although that is clearly not the case

Lover #3?  Dame Burstyn was nominated for her riveting turn as “Former Tarnower Steady” in Mrs. Harris!

    The
number of episodes is not what people are complaining about. Breaking
Bad is a drama series because it had an ongoing storyline
    season-to-season, and the same characters.

    People are
complaining about True Detective being in Drama Series categories
because it clearly does not. It is ironic that True Detective, because
of HBO’s placement, could wind up with only 1 or 2 awards in the main
categories when they would have swept the miniseries ones fairly easily.

Allison Janey appears in every episode of Mom and if calculated, is just like ten minutes behind the camera-time of her co-star

    For
    a half-hour sitcom (really 20 minutes), that’s 50% less screentime than
her costar and definitely would qualify as supporting.

I think all of the Supporting nominees this year have appeared in every episode – I don’t think it really is relevant if you’re in every episode whether you are lead or supporting.

Am I the only one thinks Robin Wright should be in supporting? I love her on “House of Cards” but I feel that since she has less screentime than Kevin Spacey who is the lead she should be in supporting if she was she would have a way easier time winning.

In season one, definitely. But season two’s best aspect was fleshing out her character more. She had her own storylines, ones not involving Kevin Spacey’s character. She was definitely an equal lead. Besides, season two had a clear supporting actress, one that would have made an excellent nominee, Molly Parker.

She was absolutely not a lead actress. look ather submission. And yes, she had a better episode, but that was the only episode where she wazs playing a lead role. Does that make Reg E. Cathey a lead too ?

So many people cheat in between Lead and Supporting that it doesn’t really matter (and it only hurts her chances here), so whatever, but Robin Wright should be in supporting.

It’s been over 20 years and the academy still has not figured out the UK television model. Luther, and Sherlock are dramas not minis.

A miniseries is something that begins and ends in less than 10 episodes. Then is never seen again. Get out Treme, Fargo, AHS.

She would have a way better chance of winning in supporting just like Elizabeth Moss since in the finale episode she did sumbit there is only one impact scene.
