Leachman holds the record for most Emmys won by a performer, right?

But two of her Emmys were in these categories: ”Outstanding Continuing or Single Performance by a Supporting Actress in Variety or Music” for ”Cher” and ”Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program” for ”Screen Actors Guild 50th Anniversary Celebration”.

How those 2 Emmys count? It’s like they were, in recent days, in the Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category where the guests from the SNL are nominated?

I would like a clarification. Also, does anyone has a list of top 10 winners of most Emmy awards? I know J. Fox has 5 e Tyne Daly has 6, but I would love to see something more accurate.

I’m not sure I understand what your doubt is.  Why wouldn’t those 2 categories count?  They are performance categories right?  So they should count in a tally of most performer wins.  The evolution of categories should not discount them.

I don’t have an accuarate list but the following names would appear in at least 6 wins: Leachman, White, Daly, Edward Asner, Mary Tyler Moore, Art Carney, Carol Burnett.  Remember variety series/specials for the majority of years include the lead performer in a nominated program in on the nomination and award, for lack of a specific category or just because the academy deemed it best. Not even counting daytime emmys here unless it’s someone who has a shelffull of primetime emmys.  In any count I would also include hosting, narration, etc. not acting but performance anyway.
