The new A&E Miniseries is gong to airing over a two night period of September 3rd & 4th (labour Day and the next day). It stars Oscar winners Ellen Bustyn, Geena Davis and Richard Dreyfuss; Oscar nominee James Woods; also emmy nominee Lauren Ambrose. It’s a remake of the film of the same name from 1978. Here is the trailer:
Richard Dreyfuss and Geena Davis are both Oscar winners, not just nominees.
This could be something. Is Ambrose the lead? If this category merger wasn’t coming up, she might have had a shot at another Emmy nomination. But the way it is going to be, Ellen Burstyn will be in before her.
bump . . .
This has the worst reviews I’ve seen for a project with a cast of this caliber in a long time. It it was on HBO, there might be a chance it would get nominated somewhere. But A&E? At this point on the season? Nah.
Based on the Novel, Coma is a big star studded (Cameo’s) failure with not really much worthy about to talk about in it’s first episode. The main seems to be Lauren Ambrose who is not given much to do as newly appointed student nurse at a hospital. She works closely with Steven Pasquale who in turn works (has a relationship) with Geena Davis. The hospital has more often patients going into which sets up the freaky side of the show. The episode was very boring with a lot of actors wasted in small cameos like Richard Dreyfuss, James Woods, Ellen Burstyn and many more who barely apear. It left a bad feeling in me because I did not really like it.
Episode Grade: Night #1: B- (MVP: Lauren Ambrose)
If you thought episode one was creepy wait till you last night’s episode which was the weirdest and dumbest way to end this bad two night miniseries. First all the things they introduced as well as using some of the actor’s in off putting ways, with Lauren Ambrose running through out the whole episode which was just horrible for her I bet (I like her as an actress), Ellen Burstyn being given once again bad material but making the best out of it, James Woods and Richard Dreyfuss wasted to the highest. I just hated this whole miniseries and hope that come this time next year people have forgotten it by not giving it an emmy nominations (Star-power might push it).
Episode Grade: Night #2: C+ (MVP: Ellen Burstyn)
NOBODY WASTE YOUR TIME WATCHING THIS LIKE I DID!!
