If Ty doesn’t submit “Good Cop Bad Dog” then I don’t even know, the other two are great, but he was fantatic in this episode. I give him front runner status since he will have four tape and is consistent in most episodes and since Modern Family did so well in nominations. Chris Colfer is right on his tail, but if he submits “Born this Way” he won’t win. If I recall he didn’t have much screen time. For Actress I think it’s a Modern Family year. If Vergara submits “Unplugged” and Bowen submits “Halloween” then Sofia will win (As much as I love Julie) since she would be fantastic in her submission and have her American accent situation in “Halloween”. Betty White is on her heels though since she’s Betty White (which is a terrible reason to win, but it’s true).July 16, 2011 at 2:59 pm #222576
Ty actually has a few good choices, I’ve been watching them to see what is the best “emmy bait”, but ya Good Cop, Bad Dog is pretty solid. Chris really didn’t have any comedic stuff this season, I don’t think he deserves it. I wouldn’t mind seeing Eric Stonestreet repeating.
I’d love to see Sofia win over Julie, she has lots of options to submit – I really liked her in Halloween and Unplugged (at least those are the first two I remember without rewatching anything). Jane Lynch definitely didn’t have a good tape compared to last years. I’d like to see Jane Krakowski finally win for that role seeing as 30 Rock’s time is definitely winding down. I have a feeling it’ll be between Betty White and Sofia Vergara though.July 16, 2011 at 4:53 pm #222577
It’s funny looking at the plot descriptions of different “Modern Family” episodes to see who might submit it and whom else it might help. For instance, Eric Stonestreet is great in “The Musical Man,” where he becomes a tyrant directing a school play, but that episode is a big help to Ty Burrell, who has the storyline where he accidentally pimps out his wife and daughter, and also Ed O’Neill, who has a subplot about his brother being diagnosed with cancer.July 18, 2011 at 4:18 am #222578
My predictions are that Chris Colfer get’s this hands down.
Supp. Actress I was going to say Vergara, but White is a huge threat. Again, I’m not going to sway because people think it’s a terrible show blah blah blah. Predictor’s personal taste’s in shows have no basis in predicting winners. If that is how they really feel and aren’t going to predict a front runner to win because of personal feelings of a show then they aren’t really good predictors.
Anyway, I think it’s between Vergara and White. I think this will come down to tape submission. Once we know what they have submitted then we’ll get a better idea of which one will win.July 18, 2011 at 12:30 pm #222579
With all the adult men from Modern Family getting nominated in this category, it will certainly be one of the more fascinating categories to watch this year. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the field submits and can’t wait to see how each of the guys from Modern Family play off of each other in the different episodes they submit. I’d love to see Colfer win, but I’m not sure if his dramatic storylines will put him over the top. Even the episodes of Monk that Tony Shalhoub ended up winning for had a big comedic tint to them.July 18, 2011 at 2:07 pm #222580
Just confirmed that Jesse Tyler Ferguson is submitting “Halloween”.
Julie Bowen may be submitting the same episode, but that is not officially confirmed yet.July 18, 2011 at 2:08 pm #222581
Where does this information come from?July 18, 2011 at 4:22 pm #222582
Julie Bowen’s episode is now officially confirmed to be “Halloween”.July 18, 2011 at 4:33 pm #222583
Thank God she’s submitting “Halloween”, can’t wait till we see the rest of the cast. If Sofia submits “Unplugged” I think her chances improve. I’m kind of secretly hoping Sofia messes up and submits “Slow Down Your Neighbors” or “Regrets Only” to give Julie a better chance, but I don’t think Sofia’s that bad at submitting and I’m totally on board with her winning. Then again with that submission last year Sofia might submit “Regrets Only”. Anyway I just think Bowen is the better of the two, but a win for one is a win for the show.July 18, 2011 at 11:02 pm #222585
Do you think it’s a good or bad thing that they are submitting the same episode? I feel Julie had a couple other options, but Jesse, that was definitely his best work.
They’re in different categories, so it really doesn’t matter. Bowen really should reconsider. “Slow Down Your Neighbors” is a much better episode for her.July 19, 2011 at 9:49 am #222586
The official episode submission for Chris Colfer is “Grilled Cheesus”.July 20, 2011 at 7:08 am #222587
I know a lot of critics found “Grilled Cheesus” to be forced into an Emmy submission episode for Colfer and said it made the episode feel off. Not to mention that totally out of place Beatles song at the end. So I think it’s Ty Burrell, but (sadly) Colfer is still the spoiler.July 20, 2011 at 2:02 pm #222588
Off the top of my head, Slow Down Your Neighbors was my favorite performance of Vergara’s this season, but Bowen is great in that also. I also can’t stop thinking of those faces Vergara was making at the start of Caught in the Act, when she sends Claire that e-mail by accident. My feeling, though, is that as great as Bowen is, Vergara’s consistent scene stealer status and being seen in two episodes will probably propel her to victory.
I don’t think Grilled Cheesus was a great choice for Colfer, but then he really didn’t have an episode where he got to be both prominently featured and funny. I know I earlier said it was a bad idea, but Born This Way might have been better, just because it’s the only way he gets anywhere near the screen time that the Modern Family guys will. But I’m pulling for Ty Burrell. He’s great in Good Cop, Bad Dog.
