Ty Burrell is winning this. Some people are saying Ferguson, but I don’t see it. I think it’s even a bit a case of default win. Whenever there are three nominees from the same show in a category, that series becomes a mortal lock to win there because of the combined screentime aspect. The only MF guy I can see winning is Burrell.
I could see Bowen winning out of name checking and support for her show and also because voters probably wathc the shwo regularly and maybe just really, really like her character. But I think Krakowski is gonna pull The Sedgewick.July 26, 2013 at 9:46 pm #291895
I just watched Burrell’s episode and if that is a lock win than that’s ridiculous. He had about 6 mins of screen time. I thought Hale was funnier in Running and Driver had a better standout scene not to mention Ferguson//O’Neill getting some nice moments on Burrell’s own tape and I am about to watch theirs.
But hey lets give everyone repeat wins.July 26, 2013 at 9:52 pm #291896
Haven’t seen Burrell’s tape yet but Tony Hale was wonderful in “Running.” He’s such a dope! I loved it.
If Krakowski isn’t winning this thing then I don’t even know.July 26, 2013 at 10:12 pm #291897
I can see Burrell and Bowen winning this year.July 26, 2013 at 10:20 pm #291898
I thought Ferguson had a shot when I heard he submitted The Wow factor, but now that I’ve rewatched Mistery Date, I realized it’s totally going to be Burrell. I’ve been rewatching season two of Girls lately, and sadly, I think if Driver had submitted I Get Ideas (my personal favorite episode of the season) he would have had a pretty good shot. He is so funny in that episode, and in every single scene, from the video song to Hannah, to breaking into her apartment and screaming “Cinco de Mayo!” to scaring her with the bird mask “Ka-ka!” to that final scene when the cops show up to arrest him. I think crazy, out-of-control Adam is much funnier and better than serious, sober Adam. But this is my same problem with season two of Girls. The first few episodes are so funny and exactly what I have to come look forward to seeing with the show, and then from there it just got depressing and weird. I defended it for awhile, but it really did bum me out. Even the most depressing episodes of Louie managed to give me a belly laugh somewhere in the episode. I think if Girls was labeled a drama, I might be cool with it being sad for so much of season two, but I do miss laughing at the comedic aspect they used to have.
I’m not sure how I got started discussing Girls as a series in the supporting actor thread, but apparently I did that. My apologies.July 26, 2013 at 10:46 pm #291899
On the men’s side, I think Burrell will take it. For the women, however, I don’t think it’ll be either of the MF ladies, and I’m not completely sold on Krakowski’s chances, either. My prediction at this point is probably Bialik, with Krakowski in second place, but that might change.July 26, 2013 at 11:29 pm #291900
Matty G what makes you predict Mayim Bialik? She has really nothing to do in her episode. If she didn’t win for the tiara moment last year, then I don’t think that she has a shot with the spanking episode.July 26, 2013 at 11:36 pm #291901
I think Jesse Tyler Ferugon has no chance with that terrible tape. He’s barely in it, has nothing to do, outshined by everyone in the main cast, especially by Burrell and Stonestreet. Is this really his best tape?
Ty Burrell is very good in his episode, but he had not enough screentime. I wanted to see more of him and Broderick.July 26, 2013 at 11:58 pm #291902

I watched all 3 Modern Family guys tonight. All 3 had their moments. I am not sure one stood out over the other. I was surprised most with O’neil who I usually find to be a non factor but he had a tailor made Emmy moment at the end with Vergara on his tape. Ferguson had some laughs but I always think voters are going to not think the character is that much of a stretch for him to play. Burrell was good in his tape although not the slam dunk I was led to believe and was good in O’Neil’s tape.
Seeing they all had strong moments and seeing there maybe some Modern Family backlash I wouldn’t be surprised if Hale takes it.

I honestly think anyone could win (except maybe Bill Hader). i don’t think anyone is a lock at all. But the category is uninteresting to me, so I don’t really care.
For some reason, they love Julie Bowen, even though she’s not really that funny. I fully expect them to be lazy and check off her name again, even though there are funnier, more talented actresses in this category. I don’t think anyone’s tape will make a difference; Bowen will win regardless.
Should win: Jane Krakowski. She should be a multiple winner already for this role. That she’s fighting for a final chance to win for the first time is very depressing.July 27, 2013 at 4:24 am #291906
I only had time to see the Modern Family women, Bialik, Chlumsky and Jane and in my opinion, this race so far comes down to Jane and Julie. Julie, because for some perverted reason, the Emmys love showering some people with their awards. However, based on the submissions, Jane should be winning this in a cakewalk. The Rural Juror song is longer than Julie Bowen’s whole screentime (that being said, she doesn’t have much to do in Vergara’s episode, either and Vergara is funnier in both episodes despite her short screentime). That being said, I’m keeping Julie at #1 because I don’t dare to believe that Jane can win. 🙁 I have Lynch and Wever left, but I’m going to pass on Lynch, I just don’t want to watch Glee.
My own ranking: Jane>>>>>>>>>Bialik>Chlumsky=Bowen=Vergara
Everything seems so perfect for Jane’s win, she really has everything about that episode that even Jenna would love. It’s all about Jenna: drama, crying, the beauty of redemption, perhaps a song . THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
