With HBO’s Emmy episode submissions recently coming out, it was announced that Tony Hale and Julia Louis-Dreyfus will both sumbit the same episode for veep, do you think they could both win for it?

Could they? Yes. Should they? Hale definitely not, he got a nosebleed and I don’t see what else. Dreyfus maybe, depending on the other submissions.

That last scene was the funniest moment of the season for me. While I think Debate would be a better submission for JLD, there is no way she loses with this episode. Hale can win with this tape, and not with any other. It was definitely his best choice.

Debate is better, though I assume voters will like Crate too. But she’ll win anyway because she’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

As for Tony Hale, I don’t think he even deserves a nomination. Total coat-tail nominee..The best supporting actor on the show is Matt Walsh.

“Crate” was Tony Hale’s best episode of the season, so he submitted wisely, and he can definitely win with it.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus had, as usual, many excellent episodes to choose from: “Alicia,” “Debate,” and “Crate” are really all winners. Something that some people seem to be forgetting about “Crate” is that (shocker for Veep) it has a happy ending for Selina. The episode has a lot of emotional range, but unlike episodes like “Running,” which end with Selina swearing off the political process, “Crate” ends with celebration.

Julia is locked, but Hale still has plenty of competition.

I voted that they’ll both win…but this isn’t really a final prediction for me. Also, Hale is much more vulnerable than JLD.

I don’t see how Debate is a better tape than Crate for JLD. While it is a very well-written episode, it doesn’t showcase her acting enough. Her performance would be too subtle to win with that tape. Crate has range and some money scenes that voters could go for.

Subtle? She does the whole twitchy eye thing, which is very broad, much like Jim Parson’s drunk antics. But I guess it doesn’t matter, since both are fine.

Should they both win? Yes. Will they? Yes.

I think they’ll both win, but I will have to see what the other supporting guys submit in the off chance that JTF gets a killer combination.

JLD is pretty close to a lock with Crate but for right now Fred Armisen is #1 for me in Supporting Actor since he plays multiple characters, is incredibly funny, and he is lead in a supporting category. Hale is a close #2.

Agreed, eye twitch aside, the focus of that episode wasn’t on Selina herself as much as it was about what goes on behind the scenes at a debate IMO.
