I don’t have FXX, will the Creative Arts Emmys be streamed online?
You have to remember that the FXX version is a very heavily edited broadcast – they have to get a 4+ hour ceremony into a 2-hour time slot.
The closest things in the past few years to a live stream of the ceremony are:
(a) Gold Derby Forum has had a live stream with commentary, but it wasn’t inside the theater, and award winners were announced as soon as they were posted somewhere else;
(b) There should be a Twitter feed and/or a Facebook page that has the winners as soon as they are announced;
(c) The Emmys site lists each winner on that category’s nominations page soon after it is announced, although it has been known for making a few errors.
If you want speeches, you’ll have to settle for what FXX gives us – which, except for the Guest Actor/Actress categories, is usually little more than “Thank You.”
Somebody tried a live stream something like ten years ago, but it kept switching between the ceremony and backstage, and the backstage interviewers had little idea what they were doing (the one thing I remember: they were interviewing one of the writers for The Simpsons, which had just won for Animated Program, and the first question was, “So…how many points on Lisa’s hair?”
