We will not have a chat box on the home page this weekend, so this is the place to comment on all winners and categories as they are announced for Saturday (see separate thread for Sunday).

Matt Noble and a whole lot of Gold Derby editors and contributors will be live on the video link below discussing the ceremony as well.

Marcus Dixon and I will be backstage letting you know the winners right here as soon as they are revealed.

Like I mentioned before, I’m playing it very “Creative Arts for Dummies” with these. Game of Thrones will be the story of the night here.

Guest Actor in a Drama Series:

Reg E Cathy – House of Cards

Guest Actress in a Drama Series:

Ellen Burstyn – House of Cards**

Guest Actor in a Comedy Series:

Larry David – Saturday Night Live

Guest Actress in a Comedy Series:

    Melora Hardin – Transparent

Larry David, Melora Hardin and Reg E Cathy are easy predictions to make.

** I kept going back and forth between Laurie Metcalf and Ellen Burstyn, so I flipped a coin and it said Burstyn. That’s what I’m sticking with now.

In how many hours does it start, because I am little confused about the time difference. It’s 5:19 PM in my country, I suppose that it begins in 9 hours and 40 minutes, am I right?

In guest category, I don’t know why there aren’t more people predicting Michael J. Fox. He has been consistently get name-checked/nominated for all these years no matter what the rule changes are.  He is acting branch’s only feasible opportunity to say goodbye to a show they obviously like. And the actor himself is very likeable.

All the other nominees in that category have something going against them, but I’m having a hard time finding one for him. And if both him and Burstyn win guest drama categories; it’ll be 2009-Emmys all over again.

That aside, I don’t think the guest categories have never been more embarassing, it’s the weird combination of name/show recognition and nominating ”Hey we’ve always liked you, but you were never in the right project at right time” character actors. Maybe they should consider combining them and making them genderless? It’s not like it’d be big loss for anyone. How many more blind name check nom can SNL hosts get?

There’s not going to be a live broadcast of the event, right? Only live blog.

There’s nothing I would like to see more tonight than a win for Max von Sydow. He’s probably the greatest actor ever nominated for an Emmy (the greatest living actor, one could argue), and it would be glorious for him to win an award for playing such a bizarre role that plays into his greatest strength — quiet, minimalistic emoting. With due respect to the others, it would frankly be a crime to pass up this chance, which is likely to be their last ever.

I should also say that as much as I like Tina and Amy, having them win tonight could be a total disaster for future ceremonies. The Emmys would be opening a dark window with lots of possibilities for frauds in coming years. Yes, Amy is overdue, but she can and eventually will win — on her own.

Well, how often does a duo host SNL?

It was 11 years since the last one. Though I suppose I could see Fallon & Timberlake officially together, but it’s not like they’re hard up for Emmy wins so it would be a bit pointless.

I just feel that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler should wins simply because they were the best of the category, on good old fashioned merit, you know? 🙂
