Well, I know Larry is working on that HBO movie, but other than that the show is still up in the air. JB Smoove recently tweeted that he is trying to convice Larry to do another season, so we’ll see.

J.B. Smoove needs series regular status.  They even submitted him in supporting last season.

I think this could be the arc for the next season:

Larry David gets cast in Woody Allen’s new film about legendary comedian Bill Hicks titled “Arizona Bay”. The film stars Louis C.K. as Hicks and Larry as his manager, Jack Mondrus and John Mulaney as Hick’s close friend then later rival, Denis Leary. The first three or four episodes of the season show the making of the film – including the friendship being formed between Larry and Mulaney. The final six episodes show the film being released and the critical acclaim it receives – including Academy Award buzz for Larry. He is surprised to find that he is nominated for Best Supporting Actor at all the major precursors – along with Mulaney. They then form a deep rivalry when they both receive Academy Award nominations.

The B-Arc of the season concerns Larry meeting and subsequently falling in love with Amelia (Jodie Foster), a highly acclaimed female director and staunch feminist. He becomes tangled in her web, not being able to find a plausible excuse to break up with her.

It seems like there may be hope – Larry seems to be thinking of doing another season.

Here is the story (from Splitsider.com)

HBO Is Waiting Patiently for Larry David to Bring Back ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’
Curb Your Enthusiasm might come back to HBO, but not until at least next year. According to a Vulture,
HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told reporters yesterday
that he had recently run into Larry David and asked about a possible Curb return.
Though David said he had no plans to bring it back this year, after
Lombardo asked him “So David, should I emotionally get Curb out of my head?” he responded with “No, no, no, no, no.” There aren’t any more specifics about Curb’s
future on the pay network yet, but Lombardo told reporters yesterday
that “as long as he’s thinking about it, we still have a place for it.”

Nothing new here, but good to have the previous status renewed to keep hope alive.

Yes, its a great relieve to know that this show could have a proper ending, last season was fantastic, a show smartly written, acted, directed, not so many have those qualities nowadays.

This could explain the delay on production and / or news about a new season:

I would be so thrilled to see Larry on stage, in a play that he wrote no less!

It’s official: Larry will star in Fish in the Dark on Broadway, his stage acting and playwrighting debut!

In the New York Times article posted below, Larry claims that he has not ruled out a ninth season of Curb, but working on the play will obviously delay the schedule for the series.

This is definitely a sad development:

Larry David says new Curb season very unlikely: http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/12/16/larry-david-curb/

As usual, though, he has not officially ruled a return out, but is daunted by “wrapping up” the series based on the poor reaction to the Seinfeld finale.

I certainly hope he changes him mind down the road…
