During the 2008 presidential election, Tina Fey wound up winning a guest-acting Emmy for her recurring portrayal of Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live.”

I have a strange feeling we’ll be seeing the same thing happen at next year’s Emmys, but this time for former star/current announcer Darrell Hammond.

His Donald Trump impression is one-of-a-kind, and we know for certain he’ll have a LOT of great source material this season! It hasn’t been confirmed for sure whether Hammond will step back in front of the camera, but he popped up once or twice last season, so it’s a safe bet.

I hope he does reprise as Donald Trump. I can’t remember a time where his impression didn’t make me laugh out loud. Maybe he can even reprise as Bill Clinton, with Kate McKinnon on his side as Hillary. That would also be very, VERY funny to watch.

Yes this would be HUGE in the words of Trump. Bobby will be doing Chris Christie and Beck I think is the only other person that has the physique to play him but he might of gotten a politician to work with already I can’t remember. With this GOP race, it’s actually a good time for SNL to have 16 white guys on standby. Poor Mike O’Brien, John Milhiser, and Brooks Wheelan. This would have been the year to join in with

It’s pretty obvious he will be showing up, but how will he be submitted? Is he a Guest? Is he a Supporting Actor? Will they add him to the cast just for this season?

Oh I’m sure they’ll hire a bunch of new white guys this season.

Tina Fey got into guest. They just need to do another Presidential Bash but they won’t do it until Fall 2016 that’s how Fey won

Tina Fey didn’t announce the host and musical guest every week. Based on inclusion in episodes, Hammond may only be eligible under Supporting.

He could always guest host, thus becoming the first host to announce himself. Plus wouldn’t his announcing duties only make him eligible for the Voice Over Narration award, not the acting awards?

Don’t worry, “SNL” will likely hire a ton of new white guys to your liking this fall.

I wonder if it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to put Darrell back into the cast – god knows they certainly are going to need him this season to play both Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.

I didn’t actually consider the possibility of him coming back to the cast full time. That would be amazing! Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. But … please???

Yeah I get your reluctance to consider it as a possibility, but…

…WHY NOT? Lorne Michaels is clearly irritated with how his show is slowly becoming less of a comedy powerhouse and more of a long advert where pretty faces can come and promote their next projects, and he’s making an effort to increase the comedic gravitas of the show. Sure, a castmember has never been brought back, but that’s not a major issue – Lorne Michaels can do what he wants, and he’s listened to the internet before – it was only through her powerhouse performance on the first three episodes that grabbed Leslie Jones a spot as a castmember on the show – that promotion was fully based on her popularity online, so Lorne isn’t beyond making interesting decisions, and even if Darrell isn’t made a castmember again, I can’t see anyone else playing Bill Clinton or Donald Trump, and there is no way that Darrell WON’T appear as these characters, who he pretty much only played towards the end of his tenure, so while his name won’t be in the credits as a castmember, it will still be like he’s right there, doing it all again.

I have always wondered in SNL would be wise to bring back some old veterans and add a few of them into the cast again. Undoubtedly many of them have become great successes – Fey, Fallon, Poehler, Murray, Aykroyd etc., but what if some of the older castmembers who haven’t had much of a career decide to return? I’m thinking Dana Carvey, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell etc. – they haven’t had amazing careers post-SNL, and they can either live playing tiny supporting roles, or they can come home and reign supreme on SNL again. Mark my words, Lorne will invite a castmember back, and I am telling you, it will be Darrell Hammond.

I’m almost certain Beck Bennett is going to get some good screentime if Jeb Bush becomes a thing

    That’s true. My predictions:

    Kenan- Ben Carson
    Bobby- Chris Christie
    Taran- Ted Cruz
    Vanessa- Carly Fiorina
    Pete- Bobby Jindal
    Beck- Jeb Bush
    Kyle- Rick Santorum
    Colin- Scott Walker
    Darrell- Donald Trump

There aren’t enough cast members to fill in!
    Still need actors:

    Mike Huckabee
    Rand Paul
    Lindsey Graham
    Rick Perry
    Marco Rubio

Seth and Jimmy and sometimes Fred are in the building and could fill in and of course the recurring host.

“SNL” shone at its brightest in this past decade during the 2008 election season. One can hope that with the right cast members, a fun narrative, and a shakeup in the writers room that they can return to those heights this season/next.
