Many fans of Starz’ “Outlander” thought the show would get top nominations for Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and lots of tech bids. But when Emmy nominations came out, it only had one nom: Best Music Composition for Bear McCreary. What happened? Why was the show skunked? Do Emmy voters simply hate “Outlander”?August 13, 2015 at 3:43 pm #357600
Yes they hate it, because it is an over-rated, lower quality Game of Thrones. There are a hundred shows better.August 13, 2015 at 4:09 pm #357601
Hate? To hate something you have to know about its existence first.August 13, 2015 at 4:30 pm #357602
Is this site sponsored by Outlander or something?August 13, 2015 at 4:39 pm #357603
The story so far:
‘Outlander’ fans launched a very coordinated campaign across multiple websites to try to get the show awards recognition, which somehow convinced Starz to dedicate money to the effort, which led to multiple articles being written to hype up the show’s chances at the Emmys (follow the money), which led to Tom putting Caitriona Balfe in his predictions (for a brief time), which led to shocking (not really) snubs of the show because it was never on the Emmy radar in the first place, which has now led to this thread about the hatred of ‘Outlander’ even though none of the omissions qualify as snubs because no one outside of the crazy ‘Outlander’ fanbase bought into it anyway.
Whew.August 13, 2015 at 5:04 pm #357604
The Emmy voters I don’t know, but I’m starting to hate this series because of this unnecessary indignation of the fanbase.
Outlander is very good, Caitriona and Sam give great performances, but I think the only one that deserved be nominated this year is Tobias Menzes.August 13, 2015 at 5:27 pm #357605
I dunno…. A friend loaned me the complete first season, because she loved it, and thought I would, too… but I didn’t last through the first episode. That’s all I could stand. Maybe the voters didn’t downright hate it, but maybe there just wasn’t enough “there” there to interest them. There were more deserving shows that didn’t get nominated.August 13, 2015 at 5:36 pm #357606
Balfe is good, the rest of the show is passable in all aspects, CanadianFan’s explanation is the main reason for the unjustified fanbase disappointment for that so called “snub”. We should be talking about why Mads Mikkelsen, hannibal in general, The Americans , Louis Smith, The Walking Dead, and Rectify were all snubbed without a reason.August 13, 2015 at 7:17 pm #357607
Again, “I don’t understand the question”.
And over used Kermit meme with Canada’s freshly brewed tea!August 13, 2015 at 8:28 pm #357609
Well, I dont know anything about Outlander’s “fan base”; and quite frankly, I dont give a sh_t. The show however, has been picked up for more seasons. And that’s fine with me. It’s one of the very few television shows that I watched last year.
What I’d like to know is, what are the writers going to do with potentially changing history? They’d better get an actual historian in there guiding the writers, or it could be a fiasco.August 13, 2015 at 8:43 pm #357610
Yeah, to be honest, I had no idea that the show existed until I saw Balfe rank so highly in the predictions center and heard Tom mention her on that group chat a while back. I felt like I’d just woken up from a long sleep and had missed something.August 13, 2015 at 8:54 pm #357611
i would think its because for some reason it because the cool thing to hate on outlander. I dont think its the greatest show on earth, but i like it a lot and had hope that Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe could sneak. Also, i feel Starz is the CW of the premium channels.
Also, i know outlander has a fantasy aspect but i never really though about it as similar to game of thrones or a rip off.August 13, 2015 at 10:38 pm #357612
The show is on Starz guys of course the voters didn’t nominate it they don’t even know about it. That political drama Kelsey Grammer was in BOSS was on Starz and if the voters actually watched it he would have been nominated but clearly they didn’t watch it.August 14, 2015 at 10:15 am #357613
I thought these click-bait topics from Gold derby editors was over with…I guess not.
