For example does Jessica Lange and the other AHS nominees pick episodes or do they submit the whole series?
How does this help/hurt their chances against people who are nominated for 2 hour TV movies?
No, they do not.
That’s why it helped AHS to be in Movie/Miniseries.
They wouldn’t have gotten into Drama Series last year…
But Jessica Lange still would have dominated.
No, in the telefilm categories, the voting panels get the entire works of the nominees regardless of length. So in theory, there’s more material to judge from the miniseries contenders than the made for television film contenders, and that maybe gives the former contenders an advantage over the latter since they have to compete against each other in the same categories. But that doesn’t mean that voters will watch the longer works in their entirety over the shorter entries, so I guess it oddly balances itself out somehow.
