Hoping for a Madrigal/Say My Name combo for Banks + Paul.
Anna Gunn has pretty much confirmed “Fifty-One” as her submission (video chat with Matt, interviews with other websites, etc.).July 27, 2013 at 1:21 am #291135
Glory be to God! Hallelujah! Praise Jesus!
I finally have watched a tape from a nominee that has surpassed my expectations and impressed me.
Come on down Morena Baccarin. You are my upset pick.July 27, 2013 at 1:24 am #291136
Was it because you had low expectations? Ha!July 27, 2013 at 1:37 am #291137
Was it because you had low expectations? Ha!
Yes. After watching some of the hyped newbies like Kerry Washington, Robin Wright, and Emilia Clarke fail to impress (and in one case horrify), and some of the submissions that had been praised to the heavens like Mayim Bialik, Lena Dunham, and Ty Burrell that I found to be merely decent, and the near complete dismissal of Laura Dern’s brilliant performance because it was too “dramatic”, coupled with 4 hours of Downton Abbey and The Newsroom viewing, and I was one broken, beaten, and scarred Emmy awards submission watcher.
But Mighty Morena has given me the hope, the second jolt, the inspiration, to go forward. Thank you Morena. My expectations were low, but I was impressed with what you did just the same!July 27, 2013 at 1:37 am #291138
When I was watching the British episodes of Downton Abbey, I thought that Maggie Smith did her best work ever on the show in the first two episodes of the third season. Because PBS broadcasts the show so weirdly, those two episodes are now one and the episode that she is submitting.
I am also really hoping for “Madrigal”/”Say My Name”. Two episodes pretty much locks him in for the win, but just one makes him very vulnerable.July 27, 2013 at 10:50 am #291139
The Christina Hendricks episode submission is “A Tale of Two Cities”.July 27, 2013 at 10:56 am #291140
Good choice! Much better than “To Have and to Hold.”July 27, 2013 at 10:59 am #291141
Aaron Paul is submitting the episode “Buyout”.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 27, 2013 at 11:01 am #291142
Damn it! I was hoping that Paul would submit “Madrigal” to help Banks. Oh well. “Buyout” was his best episode, anyway.July 27, 2013 at 11:05 am #291143
Dame Maggie is winning it once again. No question about that. She might become the first ever performer to win Emmy for every season of her show.July 27, 2013 at 11:11 am #291144
Interesting I was shipping To Have and To Hold for Hendricks but A Tale Of Two Citites is still very strong for her.
Buyout is Pauls best episode so good for him – I don’t know how much it helps Banks though…Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 27, 2013 at 11:15 am #291145

What the hell is Anna Gunn waiting for? Everyone knows that she is submitting “Fifty-One”.July 27, 2013 at 11:16 am #291147
I actually think Buyout really sucks for Aaron. He doesn’t have that much screentime, the whole thing with the kid felt rushed and didn’t have much a conclusion, he is overshadowed by Cranston and even Gunn… I don’t see it. I think the theory that’s it’s a good tape for him established only because Banks doesn’t have a lot to do. But Aaron’s two best episodes this season really were Madrigal (the ricin cigarette scene is great) and Say My Name (with the big fight). So I guess, so much for the thoery that he would help Banks, but I do think he didn’t help himself in the process either.
I’m now predicting this to be Cannavale vs. Patinkin, with Banks as a dark-horse
