I just wrote up a nice detailed analysis of the Lead Actor and Supporting Actor Comedy categories.  I even had a cute little comment at the end (“if you read this entire post (for a whopping two categories), then you deserve an award yourself”).  Alas, I tried to post it, only to be asked to log in again and then have my analysis erased.  ARGH.

I’m not writing it up again, so I’ll just post my early predictions here.  Note that Burrell has moved from Supporting to Lead (a very real possibility, I think):

Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

    Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock

    Ty Burrell, Modern Family

    Louis C.K., Louie

    Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm

Johnny Galecki, The Big Bang Theory

Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series

    Chris Colfer, Glee

    Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family

    Nick Offerman, Parks & Recreation

    Ed O’Neill, Modern Family

    James Spader, The Office

    Eric Stonestreet, Modern Family

As far as winners go, my early predictions are Parsons in Lead and O’Neill in Supporting.  Parsons managed to beat the sentimental favorite this year and his character is unlike any other on television.  I could easily see him pulling off the three-peat.  O’Neill is the sentimental favorite in his category; however, unlike Carell, O’Neill is on a show that is still very much on the Emmy radar, and I think that will make a big difference.  Besides, Stonestreet in ’10, Burrell in ’11, O’Neill in ’12 makes a lot of sense.

I would be surprised to see Glee nominated for anything other than Jane Lynch (because she hosted this year) in 2012.

Is Julianne Moore lead in Game Changer? I really want her to win an Emmy! (but not against Nicole……)
