I wanna hear your thoughts on the first season.
I like it but the format is too similar to HBO’s High Maintenance so I have had a bad habit of comparison right now. The one episode focuses different characters format is intriguing but it also causes hit/miss episodes. The hits are the opening, Marc Maron, and Dave Franco. I have not gotten past 6 yet so I don’t know how Orlando Bloom’s is. It’s a decent half hour that flies by.
I think I have seen four? Enjoyable but nothing revelatory. Good for a nice binge on a lazy afternoon. I don’t see it making much of an awards impact. To me, the one with the couple who’s friend was visiting (I want to say this is the fourth one) was a miss. Dave Franco’s segment held my attention but underused Aya Cash.
I appreciated that they featured a lesbian couple but (as of yet) no gay men in a romantic relationship or even featured as a side character in one of the stories, which is a bit disappointing in an anthology series that has as many characters as this one.
The user ratings compared to the critical reviews for this are disproportionately low on IMDb and Netflix itself. It makes me wonder if critics went easy on it just because they are weird like that sometimes. I will pass for now.
