What if there are past winners to present the nominees in the lead acting categories this year? 6 past winners present in the lead acting categories except lead actress in a drama series category will have 7 past winners to present. I want this idea to be sent out to editors, experts and users especially towards people of the TV Academy.
Possibilities for presenters, no past winners currently nominated in the respective category allowed obviously. In order from most recent winner
Drama Lead Actor presenters: Kyle Chandler, James Spader, Kiefer Sutherland, Michael Chiklis, Dennis Franz, Andre Braugher
Drama Lead Actress presenters: Kyra Sedgwick, Glenn Close, Sally Field, Mariska Hargitay, Patricia Arquette, Allison Janney, Edie Falco
Comedy Lead Actor presenters: Jon Cryer, Ricky Gervais, Tony Shalhoub, Kelsey Grammer, Ray Romano, Eric McCormack
Comedy Lead Actress presenters: Melissa McCarthy, Toni Collette, America Ferrera, Felicity Huffman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Debra Messing
I would love if they did this but it would make the show run longer than it already does.
I really would like something different to happen with the presentations though, it would be so much better! Like the ‘Beauty Pageant’ with the Comedy Actresses two years ago, that was something great!
FNLFan89 it seems logical that the most recent winners would present but if I were Kyra Sedgwick, Glenn Close, Jon Cryer or Melissa McCarthy, I would not want to do it due to being snubbed this year.
Well Jon Cryer and Melissa McCarthy both have shows on CBS, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they were there, though I agree they probably wouldn’t present an award they were snubbed for this year.
I expect a lot of the actors and actresses with CBS shows premiering this fall to be there, including two from that list: Allison Janney and Tony Shalhoub.
I bet Robin Williams presents, too.
Who makes decisions like this concerning who presents awards and how they’re presented – the Academy, or the show’s producer? (And how much say does that year’s broadcaster have?)
It would be difficult on part of the production team. But I’d be all for it as long as Sutherland got to talk about Cranston! It seems so apropriate since they gave the two of the most intense performances Television has seen.
