Sometimes the Emmys love an actor or actress so much, they can’t help but shower them with multiple nominations. That’s true this year as well. How many performers earned two (or more) nominations at the 2016 Emmys?

I just want to say that none of Laurie Metcalf’s nominations make sense.

Not even the writers’ branch nominated Horace and Pete. They missed a nomination in the nonsense category that is multi-camera cinematography. The Emmys snubbed legend Alan Alda. They snubbed SAG record-holder Edie Falco. They snubbed recent consecutive lead nominees Louis C.K., Steve Buscemi and Jessica Lange.

The Big Bang Theory was nominated for series for four years. It won lead actor four times in six years. Then it was dropped from both categories. Then it was dropped from all telecast categories. And only then does Metcalf make it in, on her seventh attempt at getting a nomination for the role.

You will not find a show with fewer viewers or less buzz than Getting On, which you may recall was cancelled and last aired seven months ago, but probably not.

I love the Laurie Metcalf nominations. They were a sight for sore eyes after the Christine Baranski snub.

    Who else?

Amy Schumer – Lead Actress and Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
Sarah Paulson – Lead and Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie

That’s all that comes to mind.

Gold Derby TV Awards FYC: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life - Limited Series, Movie/Mini Actress (Lauren Graham), Movie/Mini Supp. Actress (Kelly Bishop)

Allison Janney has two nominations. Guest Actress Drama and Supporting Actress Comedy.
Aziz Ansari has three nominations, Writing, Directing, Acting.
Amy Schumer has a lot of nominations. Lead Actress, Guest Actress, Writing for Variety Series, Writing for Variety Special. These two might be wrong in case she is not a producer but Variety Sketch Series and Variety Special.

Forgive me if my tone is combative, it’s not meant to be…just argumentative.

I’m not quite sure why Metcalfe’s nominations don’t make any sense to you. It’s for sure not because your opinion is that her work was bad as it is never mentioned in your argument.

Maybe a relevant case is added for the GETTING ON nomination, it could very well be a name thing there or it could be you have no idea what nomination voters actually have watched.

She was nominated for three shows that the Emmys do not care about, after years of being snubbed for a show that the Emmys did care about, so her nominations seem more out of left field than those additional Game of Thrones and Veep acting nominations for example.

This is a fair assumption especially since it concentrated on acting nominations and I’m so happy it was the way you responded. Again sorry if I seemed like a prick earlier, I had a hard time figuring out how not to sound like one.

TIna Fey will end up with two nominations. She’s just not listed as producer on Kimmy Schmidt yet. (Also nominated in Guest Actress).

Bill Maher will also end up a multiple nominee for Vice and Real Time.

Aziz Ansari will end up with 4 nominations. Can’t imagine him not being a credited producer of Master of None.

Amy Schummer might end up with 6 as she will also get producing nominations for Variety Series and Variety Special.

Rob Corddry is nominated for Short Form Actor, he will be a nominee for producing Children’s Hospital too (already a winner twice before).

Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston are producers of The Night Manager.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a credited producer of Veep, she won Comedy Series last year, she’ll most likely be credited and win again.
