Fantastic news. Great for Fargo and great for Coon who deserves a high profile and big-time roles. Her peformance on The Leftovers is really something special; she should have won all kinds of awards for Season 1.July 11, 2016 at 1:33 pm #1201862029
Can’t remember the last time casting news made me so happy. My favorite show on TV and one of my favorite actresses.July 11, 2016 at 2:38 pm #1201862057
NO WAY!!!!!!!! *Fanboyism activated* The female star of the TOP TWO shows on TV right now.July 11, 2016 at 3:02 pm #1201862063
The noise I made when I read this news at work was ridiculous. Carrie Coon is coming for her Emmy, bitches! I’ll be intrigued to see if the new season of “Fargo” airs before the Emmy deadline for next year if they don’t start shooting until the end of this year. Can’t wait to see who else fills out this ensemble…if I were an actor, I’d make a role on this show one of my top priorities!July 11, 2016 at 3:22 pm #1201862073
I wonder if I am underestimating Carrie Coon for the Emmys this year. She seems to have struck a chord within the industry. Maybe she and Regina King can get in on a wave of acclaim like Laura Dern and Molly Shannon did after Enlightened was cancelled.July 11, 2016 at 3:48 pm #1201862081
So happy to see the world realize how great of an actress she is.July 11, 2016 at 7:46 pm #1201862160
Eye roll. Should’ve been Anna Torv.July 12, 2016 at 7:43 am #1201862270

I don’t think I am gutsy enough to predict her right now (still time for stupid last minute changes!) but we definitely are. I think Dern maybe had slightly more heat than Coon since she was coming off of a Globes win and, of course, had more industry name recognition because of her long acclaimed career, family and Oscar nom. But, they are also both popular actresses coming off of extremely critically lauded second seasons of low rated HBO shows…the parallels are there.
I think that in one regard, though, Coon does have an advantage over Dern in that her show is getting a third season while Enlightened had already been canceled by the time of nominations I believe (still not over that) and also the fact that Lindelof is more of known quantity than Mike White so his show maybe gets slightly more attention from voters during nomination time because of that.July 12, 2016 at 12:24 pm #1201862392
I could see Coon getting in for The Leftovers next year if Fargo Season 3 is as good, and The Leftovers season three doesn’t disappoint.
Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.
