What are some of your favorite Emmy show moments from the past 10 years? I love when Ricky Gervais, after losing for “Derek,” held up an Emmy later in the show and pretended to cry so that people could take screen caps of it. Also, I can’t get enough of watching the beauty pageant from 2011 when Melissa McCarthy was crowded on-stage alongside all of the other Comedy Actress nominees. Yours?November 19, 2015 at 4:54 pm #365372

and of course all wins for 24November 19, 2015 at 6:28 pm #365373
Viola Davis’s historic win and amazing speech this year for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series!!! Also, Breaking Bad sweeping Actor, Supporting Actress, Supporting Actor, and Drama Series for its final season. That was a great moment with well deserved wins across the board for the cast and show.November 19, 2015 at 6:57 pm #365374
Nothing can beat Margo Martindale’s shrill scream at the Creative Art ceremony this year, when she was announced as the winner for her 2 minute cameo. Nearly made me want to happy about her victory but I just couldn’t find enough strength inside of me to do that.November 19, 2015 at 9:16 pm #365375
I have many favorite moments but the #1 is Carell “winning” Ricky Gervais’s EMMY in 2007 thanks to Colbert & Stewart his friends presenting then the following year when Gervais took it back and mocked Carell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5exVF7-8g0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jepvThXCtVs and every other time Gervais presented.November 19, 2015 at 9:17 pm #365376
Also Andy Samberg’s monologue this year was the funniest EMMYS thing I had seen in maybe over ten years.November 20, 2015 at 7:27 am #365377

When Bryan Cranston made out with JLD when she won.
Also whenever Sarah Paulson lost and my head explodes and then grows back and does that process 12 times.November 20, 2015 at 9:00 am #365379
JLD’s speech with Tony Hale assisting. OK, basically all of JLD’s appearances!November 20, 2015 at 10:57 am #365380
In the last 10 years, anything Amy Poehler has really livened the ceremony up for me. From the funny glasses in 2009, to the pageant in 2011, to speech-switching with Julia Louis-Dreyfus in 2012, she’s got a real knack for picking her bits and then moving on. Too many comedic attempts, like a lot of Jimmy Kimmel’s, just drag for me. Having copresenters, like anytime Colbert and Stewart presented together, can help with that. Sarah Silverman’s moustache and Justin Timberlake’s rejoinder (“that’s what hormones’ll do”) in 2009 was pretty great too.
My favorite winning moment, 2006-present, has to be Merritt Wever’s shocked (too rare with too many predictable winners during that time) win (“Thanks so much…thank you so much…um…I gotta go…bye”).November 20, 2015 at 4:29 pm #365381

James Spader winning up against James Gandolfini in 2007, and then saying in his speech “I feel like I just stole a pile of $ from the mob and they’re sitting right over there.”November 20, 2015 at 10:45 pm #365383
Kyle Chandler and Jason Katims winning for Friday Night Lights in 2011 have to be my all-time favorite moments in the last decade. Getting those wins for the show’s final season was so rewarding after years and years of being ignored.
Other favorite moments would include Michael Emerson finally winning for Lost in 2009, Peter Dinklage winning his first time for Game of Thrones in 2011, and Martin Freeman winning for Sherlock: His Last Vow in 2014.November 21, 2015 at 1:59 pm #365384
Conan’s 2006 opening is definitely the stand-out for me. I think it was a nice snapshot of the last time broadcast TV still had hugely-popular zietgeisty fare rather than a series of niches. I’m not sure you could do the same sort of thing today.
