What races will REALLY get heated – and maybe nasty? Julia Louis-Dreyfus vs. Amy Shumer? Uzo Aduba vs. Maggie Smith? Cranston vs. Vance? Who’s got old scores to settle?

    Oooh…I love this idea!!!

Comedy Actor: Tambor vs. Anthony Anderson. Blackish had some powerhouse episodes this season, and Anderson definitely has the tapes to beat Tambor.

Movie-Mini Actress: Paulson vs. McDonald. I know that everyone thinks Paulson has this in the bag, but I wouldn’t discount Audra, particularly since there is precedent for a stage performance winning over a film performance(Robert Morse winning for Tru).

Don’t discredit Kirsten Dunst, either! She gave a truly career-defining performance on the critically acclaimed second season of Fargo and she’s Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominated for the role, too.

Lead Actress M/MTM’s gonna get ugly: Dunst, Huffman, McDonald, Paulson, Taylor, & Washington!

None? I don’t see any of the serious contenders caring all that much for a race to be “fierce…heated…nasty.”

I have my eye on Drama Lead/Supporting Actress – I could see Margulies and Baranski pull upsets, given all of the chatter about the finale.

Who do you think are the front-runners in the Supporting Actress category? Last year’s winner Aduba will be back, but as far as I’ve heard about Season 3 of Orange she had far more comedic material than what she won with last year from Season 2. Gold Derby was championing Lena Headey last year, but will she be as strong a contender and have as much buzz for this season of GoT as last? Maybe some of the Horace and Pete actresses if Emmy takes the show into consideration?

I think Aduba enters the race a modest front-runner but any of Baranski, Froggatt, Headey or Smith could easily derail her this time. I’m admittedly awfully skeptical about Horace and Pete‘s Emmy chances, beyond maybe Metcalf.

Personally, I enjoy the GoldDerby feuds.

Most recently, the passion around a Best Supporting Actor bid for Finn Wittrock in his tighty whities was quite entertaining. Shocking how such a talented thespian has fallen off the radar since his scandalous Emmy loss to Bill Murray.

I am anxious to see who garners the rabid following this year.

I think its JLD vs. Ellie Kemper. I have Amy Schemer missing due to the mixed reviews this season got, the lack of buzz around the show, and the public backlash that she has received in the past couple months

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

Lead Actor is the toughest category to imagine a winner in advance… Don’t think Spacey has any buzz

I’m paying a lot of attention to Actress-Limited Series or Movie. I think it will be a battle to the death between Sarah Paulson and Kerry Washington with Kirsten Dunst and Felicity Huffman being big spoilers.

The limited/movie lead actress thread is ten pages long. (Comedy series is four.)

Martindale vs. Baranski for “The Good Wife”! The voters absolutely love Margo, but it’s Christine’s time to finally win. A true nailbiter.
