Julianne Hough & Vanessa Hudgens To Star In Fox’s ‘Grease: Live’ In 2016

    by Nellie Andreeva  January 17, 2015 10:11am

Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) will star in Grease: Live (working title), Fox’s upcoming live production of the popular musical, which has been scheduled for Jan. 31 2016. Hough will play the angelic “Sandy” – Rydell High’s most talked-about newcomer – and Hudgens as iconic bad girl “Rizzo.”

Marc Platt has come on board to executive produce the musical, produced by Paramount Television.

Why?! Did these people see Rock of Ages?! Julianne is not a great singer just a great dancer.

Much like the original film, this production will rise or fall based on the actor playing Danny. This may be the first of these ‘live’ events I have any interest in, but they will need to hook me with that casting.

I’d love to see Finn Wittrock play Danny to shed the American Horror Story creepiness

When I think of Sandy, I think of Olivia Newton John and Laura Osnes because they had the singing and the sweetness. Julianne is kinda the same but with a little more of the edge. I’m down with this choice. Hudgens……..yeah. Naya Rivera would have been better.

I hope Darren Criss is Danny. That’s the only possible way this will even work

How about Megan Hilty for the role of Frenchie?

I honestly can’t think of anybody for the role of Kinnecky.

Aaron Tveit is Danny! (You may know him from the movie version of Les Miserables, USA’s Graceland, and the broadway show Catch Me if You Can and Next to Normal.  This is awesome casting news and will make this 100000000 times better than what it was before. Tveit has one of the best vocal chops of his generation of theater actors and will be charming as hell in the role.

Really?! Official? Now I’m interested in this… and I don’t even like Grease

At the same time is bad news for the show, because Hough will not be nearly as good as him. For sure. Poor lame girl.

Okay Vanessa Hugens you’re talented but they really should have gotten someone like Elizabeth Gillies as Rizzo. She probably could have gotten an emmy nomination for that she would be so good.
