    Frances Conroy:

    a) does not receive a nomination for American Horror Story: Freak Show

/Conroy lost nomination only when she is clearly a guest star (AHS: Asylum), and in AHS: Freak Show she’s definitely a supporting actress, so Conroy most likely get her seventh nomination/

    b) gets the nomination, but loses victory because of Sarah Paulson or Kathy Bates

/this option easily prevails, because early Conroy lost to Lange and Bates/

    c) gets the nomination and unexpectedly wins because of belated recognition

/it seems a wild theory, but if circumstances develop in favor of Conroy, she can win/

    What do you think?

I would so love to see Frances Conroy to get her overdue Emmy win, since she was unfairly robbed of her Emmy(s) for her pheonmenal performance in “Six Feet Under”.  (She deserved at least 2 Emmys for SFU)

It would cool to see (C) happen, but it’s possible, not entirely though.  She was a bit underused in Freak Show.

Finn Wittrock drew the attention of viewers, and because Conroy played mainly with him, audience should remembering her well (much more, than Bassett, for example).

I hardly remember Frances Conroy from this Freak Show. She was much better in Coven.

I don’t know if she can get nominated this year (though barely anyone had her name in their predictions last year), but she has one standout episode “Blood Bath” in which she does her best work this year. Otherwise, she was sadly underused. Still would be pretty cool to see her finally win an Emmy though!

I would have given her the win over Bates last year. Conroy was the standout on Coven.

Yeah she didn’t have a whole lot to do in Freak Show. She might have had more screen time than Asylum but her character was as present as she was in Asylum. I don’t think she’ll make the cut this season

Frances Conroy was for me the MVP of Coven, was the best chance for her to win. In Freak Show she is great, but I think Sarah Paulson will gonna win.

Oooooh this is going to be fun Clap

Frances Conroy, for four seasons of American Horror Story, has been consistently excellent and is the only performer across all four seasons who brought something completely different and unique each season. She is also a beloved television actress who was on one of the most acclaimed drama series of the 21st century. She also never once won for it.

I do agree that she didn’t have as much to do this season as she normally did in Season 1 or Season 3, BUT she was absolutely brilliant in Season 4, and with her role she did absolutely amazing things and took a character that could’ve been just a flat, boring character and turned her into a multidimensional and at times, sinister, character. Sure, she didn’t do as much as the likes of Kathy Bates or Sarah Paulson, but she certainly was as good as them, if not maybe even better.

I have seen the performances of Janet McTeer in The Honorable Woman and Regina King in American Crime. McTeer is surely very good, and she definitely has talent. But its a flat performance that falls second to Maggie Gyllenhaal’s tour-de-force performance in the lead role. Regina King is impressive at first, but she shows very little change in character, and her performance is the same throughout the entire season.

They both pale in comparison to the AHS ladies, specifically Bates, Paulson and Conroy.

In my eyes, the Frances that should be up on that stage accepting an Emmy this year does not have the surname McDormand…

Yeah she didn’t have a whole lot to do in Freak Show. She might have had more screen time than Asylum but her character was as present as she was in Asylum. I don’t think she’ll make the cut this season

    Oh, tantalizing!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but are you not the fella who is predicting John Carroll Lynch to get nominated?

    Let’s revise!

  • Frances Conroy was in eight episodes of American Horror Story: Freak Show. John Carroll Lynch was in four episodes
  • Frances Conroy had a character arc and character development, based on her performance, her acting and her talent. John Carroll Lynch, while wonderfully talented as an actor, was essentially just a body to which terrifying special effects were applied. Yes, in his last episode, he did have quite an emotional storyline, but that was ONE scene. Conroy had eight episodes of character development, emotion and actual performance
  • Frances Conroy has been nominated six times before, including twice for this very show. John Carroll Lynch has yet to get a single nomination, and I doubt it will be for a performance where he isn’t in the main cast, wears a mask most of the time and dies four episodes in.
  • No, Kyle – Frances Conroy has a terrific chance of “making the cut”, and I don’t know why you think making such a sweeping statement that she isn’t making the cut is a good idea, especially when you advocate for a performance no one really cares too much about. As a character, Twisty was fantastic. As a performance, it was just a matter of being there and letting the makeup and effects do their job.

I would love for Conroy to win, but at this point, it’s Sarah Paulson’s to lose (which I don’t think will happen). In most of her and her castmate’s interviews and appearances, the difficulty and innovation of her performance has been highlighted and praised. She’s the first actress to ever portray a two-headed woman herself and she did it brilliantly. I don’t think the Academy will be able to resist in rewarding her for it. Conroy is sooo overdue, though. It bums me out.

Um what? When did I ever say it wouldn’t be a good idea for her to be nominated? I just said she didn’t have much to work with to make her worthy this season. I adore Conroy and everything she’s done from Horror Story, Six Feet Under, her guest roles on United States of Tara and How I Met Your Mother, her bit role in The Crucible, even her performance in the Lifetime movie Ring of Fire. Why are you suggesting it is such a radical thing that I’m not predicting her? She’s in 17th place overall on Gold Derby of getting in with 100/1 odds. John Carroll Lynch might be more of me hoping but I think his performance is more terrifying than the make up itself. I always feel like these attacks happen from some personal vendetta you have against me and I don’t know why cause I don’t have one on you at all. Paulson will get in, Bates will probably get in, Bassett might sneak in but not likely, but Conroy doesn’t have much of a shot except name recognition

Conroy deserves an Emmy for insulting Lange’s singing as caterwauling. The highlight of the whole season.

Um, when did I say you were not possibly a fan of her? I’m going on what you said in your post.

I am not suggesting it is a radical thing for you not to be predicting her, but I am suggesting that you think an Emmy darling who had a lot more to do this season isn’t going to get nominated, while you believe someone who wore a mask in four episodes and spoke for one scene is absolutely worthy and going to make the cut.

DID YOU KNOW: Frances Conroy was also very low last season in the predictions centre. You do know how the GD prediction centre works? It isn’t controlled by the Emmy voters, it is controlled by us, so if people got their wits together and predicted Conroy, she would be higher.

About the “attacks” – please, I have no time for vendettas or ill-feelings, especially not with people on the internet. Trust me, I feel nothing nasty towards you – its just a sweeping statement like “Frances Conroy won’t make the cut” is very much bait for logic to take over, and especially when you’re predicting someone like John Carroll Lynch.
