So, I was thinking about the Emmy’s decision to eliminate the supporting categories in a TV Film/Miniseries and I thought, wouldn’t it be better if they combined the Male and Female supporting categories, making one supporting category in a TV Film/Miniseries with 6 possible nominations.
Figured I’d create a thread and a poll for this, esp. since a lot of voters read this forum.
Keep them separate. If you combine the supporting categories, the women will get short shrift, as it will if you do so in the leading categories, or in any genre (Comedy, Drama).
If the Emmy’s want to reduce the time of the telecast, they need to move (and I know I’m gonna get alot of slack for this) the Writing and Directing categories to the Creative arts Emmy telecasts. That alone eliminates 6 categories from the telecast.
If you think about it, directing and writing deserve to be a part of the Creative Arts Emmy’s. Its called the Creative Arts Emmy’s. Writers and Directors are rewarded for the CREATIVITY in writing and directing, and how well that CREATIVITY is shown on screen.
